why I have to play AA

Because of a REAL LACK of alternative.

So I really want to play something new and nice. AA with its LP bull$hit and average game experience does not seem to be the thing that will engage me for long. But what do I do?

 

I do what ANY mmorpg fun out there would do and go through the list of games sorted by hype/rating. Let's take a look :D

F     The Secret World     8.58    - not my kind of environment, read some post about it being really p2w, really not my thing anyway
F     Guild Wars 2     8.57 - played it on and off many months, never hooked me, definitely not gonna do it for me now
D     EverQuest Next     8.52 - that 2014 date is plain wrong, but ya already subscribed for beta invite
D     Star Citizen     8.50 - haha, oh have I mentioned that? haha, vapourware at its finest
F     Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm..     8.48  - played for a couple of month, awesome game!, but it feels like it lacks a purposeful end game
D     ArcheAge     8.28 - force kills my client every 750s, I will not pay money for a game this unstable, so random beta events is all I can try for now, but ya.. looks like the most complete game to play in the near future.
D     Gloria Victis     8.20 - looked at it, seems pretty interesting, but it is truly pre-alpha so not much gameplay there even if you are willing to pay the little fee and help them with the game
F     Rift  8.17 - ya, nice game, i don't enjoy the combat and it never hooked me, I played it for the fun of it and cause people say it is great, but ya.. 2 months were enough for me
D     Camelot Unchained     8.15 - not much to do about this game and unknown release date games are to be ignored
D     The Repopulation     8.13 - subscribed for alpha/beta invitations, game sounds really cool so definitely interesting, but not for now
D     Warhammer 40.000: 8.12 - 2015 intended release date, 40usd minimum founder pack so NO (I don't want to found anything, I want to have full, polished fun :D)
D     Shroud of the Avatar     8.12 - unknown release date
D     Destiny     8.11 - looks awesome, but I will not buy a console for this game so I will need to wait till spring 2015 to play this on PC
D     Pathfinder Online     8.11 - unknown release date
F     Darkfall: Unholy Wars     8.11 - from what I've heard about this it is PvP full loot, not interested
D     Elite: Dangerous     8.10 - 75usd package to beta test it, I think I will wait.... but it does look cool
D     Albion Online     8.10 - 2005 settlers graphics but the game seems to have quite a little bit of potential, but as I said not interested in founding anything and it is 50usd
D     Blade & Soul     8.10 - WTF NCSOFT! b&s looks amazing but I understand it is VERY grindi so it needs to be revamped for western market.. but there was like no news about this game for more than 1.5 years.. dissappointing
D     Black Desert     8.10 - ya, pre-alpha I guess, there is not even a decent site for it .. so not much to do with this one either for now (no I won't try to hack KR, RU, JP versions or whatever markets the game is already in)
D     Trials of Ascension     8.09 - unknown
D     Embers of Caerus     8.08 - end of 2015 apparently, but it looks dead
D     Divergence Online     8.08 -  unknown release
D     The Black Watchmen 8.07 - 2015 puzzles game, what!?
D     Life is Feudal     8.06 - unknown
D     The Division     8.05 - yes yes hell yes, but ya.. not even pre-alpha ( probably I would found this one for a small amount)
D     Citadel of Sorcery     8.05 - unknown, sounds cheesy
D     Earthrise: First Impact     8.04 - unknown
D     Origins Of Malu     8.04 -  still needed kickstarter in may so.. yes? no? I want an aaa title not some bad clone of wildstar, but either way it is not much of a competition to aa right now
D     H1Z1     8.03 - I think rust was enough for me for survival games
BT   War Thunder     8.02 -  unknown and not looking for "simulators" - so no planes, tanks, ships worlds for me
D     Bless     8.00 - unknown
D     Infinity: The Quest for Ea..     7.99 - unknown
BT   DayZ     7.97 - unknown, sold or dead already?
F     EVE Online     7.91 - played for the last 6 years, probably will play it till my nephews will want my accounts... but not much to do right now
F     Lord of the Rings Online     7.91 - 2007 game, hmm maybe I'm a little late for this one and did not hear good things about it either
F     Guild Wars     7.91 - l20 cap really!? but it was a fun game to play for sure
F     Dark Age of Camelot     7.90 - 2001 game? yes, I'm definitely late for this one...
F     Vanguard: Saga of Heroes     7.90 - not free to play, 2007 game (see above)
F     EverQuest II    7.90 - late to the party, next is on its happy way soonTM
F     Path of Exile   7.90 -  yes love it, but I play for 4 months, stop for 6, rinse and repeat (during the break now :) )
F     Final Fantasy XI    7.90 - would play 14 if I really wanted to play a FF
F     Ryzom   7.90 - 2004 game
F     Guild Wars Factions    7.90 - already covered
F     TERA: Rising 7.89 - nice nice and sure nice, but it's just not nice enough longterm for me. I definitely enjoyed playing it for 6 month though

And the list goes on. PS2 I play from time to time, Warframe I play from time to time, Lineage 2 is waaay to old and I failed to play it properly too many times already, Aion kills me with that RNG in upgrading weapons (I hate reverse progress :( sorry), Wildstar is terrible and not f2p anyway, Vindictus is not allowed in my region, ESO wants 60usd + monthly fee and people have quite mixed feelings about it so not sure I want to pay so much to see if I like the universe, Dragon Nest is .. utterly irrelevant and I WILL NOT start playing WoW now....

Diablo 3? maybe? 80 USD and kind of single player.. maybe? maybe not? No DOTA2, LOL or strategy games for me. Don't know why but I really don't feel like playing those.

 

TLDR: So till games like the crew, evolve, gta5 come along ( a couple of month from now) and  the division, destiny, eq next, homeworld:sh are released for PC (next year hopefully) I will play AA with its good and bad (I hope they will fix my 750s forced exit till release!!!). And probably so shall you :D

 

P.S.: Unless you guys can PLEASE offer me a proper alternative (go out with your friends is not the alternative I'm looking for, thank you for the thought though) till the games mentioned above are available.

    Holly $hit batman what a beautiful game EQ Next will be!

    Grab a closed beta key from mmorpg home page and go play Landmark for a couple of hours. You will see how modern graphics should look like and how water/underwater feels. I'm impressed even before getting to the voxel part and making holes in the mountain. Alos grinding for resources to build cool stuff that other people will want to have is quite amusing (for a while at least :D)

    There's a lot of good games in that list, no one can tell you what to play though, it depends on your own taste eh.

    Too much pay2win for me. If it would be subscription based, I'd have already purchased it.

    Sorry you lost me. Who has too much p2w? Landmark which has no obvious (at least not to me) goal other than building stuff for the actual EQ Next environment or EQ Next which we don't even know what features will make it in. All I've seen about it was a movie with a human and a lion like char playing together and falling into the underground where a boos was waiting.

    Landmark is not relevant enough and EQ Next is not ready enough to have p2w as far as I am aware.

    None of the two are relevant or ready to have p2w in them already.

    Pretty sure he meant AA. Not goin to touch that P2W stuff. Everybody has a different definition of P2W it seems.

     

    EQNext looks good, still not sure if Ill also get that when it comes out.

    A few friends have started looking into Bless. Looks really pretty. Its goin to be a grinder too.

    I saw Bless a few years back. they had 4 classes then, now they have 8.

    It has some nice stuff, but again Im not sure on this one.

     

    Still looking forward to AA.

    Thanks for the suggestion. I tried downloading it and it's a korean thingie. It wants to personally ID you and it is all in korean. It also wants to install browser plugins that interfere with networking settings and so on (which I allowed it too, but now not sure how much I was able to clean it back up). Way too intrusive for my taste and I don't have a korean ID anyway.

    Did you guys go through the same issues or did you find a work around?

    It was just not in the top 50 games I looked at. And probably the universe itself was not so appealing to me. I'm also not 100% sure I did not try it at some point and did not like it at all. Maybe I will pay it a visit. Thanks for mentioning it.

     

    edit: yes I did try it and did not like it at all. It is also quite low in the top hype/rating so I presume I was not the only one not liking it that much. I should probably stop being that picky but truth being told I will just align again to the my OP. SWOTR seems far less what I want than AA so probably I will stay with the later :(

    Nope, no workarounds. I backoff when it needed a KR ID. Im not goin to do something that may or may not be illegals just for a game.

     

    Its on and off on my Game radar. Its now goin into KR beta, so its a few years away. Like Aion was, like AA is, and so will Bless be of in the distance.

     

    Im goin to get back on track and keep to AA stuff. Its the game thats here, and now.

     

    Edit: Oh, and im one of those that likes Asian games. Though to be honest. FF14 didnt do it for me. Not grindy enough.

    Mix Single player titles with World of Warcraft. When you want something innovative and new play the Skyrims, GTA5's, and when you want the social experience pick up WoW. I know you're tired of wow, but if you're looking for something to quench your thirst, new Wow content is your only choice, because just as you pointed out, that list of games and more to come all have some sort of bullshit baggage attached to them. That baggage that you're seeing would be invisible if it weren't for the mmorpg standard known as World of Warcraft. Just a rehashing here , play wow for your social and mmo experience and play the single players / multiplayers for your innovative and creative side, if you do that, you can stop chasing the wind like you and many others including myself have done. I have submitted to Wow and I having a blast now, I log into wow a couple times a week and the rest of the time, I play a lot of great titles I picked up on steam for dirt cheap like gta4, skyrim, borderlands 2, dark souls 2..... I am in a comfort zone now and am able to enjoy the games again.

    Have you played Rust?  I have some 300+ hours in the game and although I haven't played it in some time, it offered some of the best gaming experiences I have played this year.  It certainly is not a joke.
