General: Strategic Simulations Veterans Form New RPG Studio

BMunchausenBMunchausen Staff WriterMMORPG.COM Staff Posts: 400

Veteran game-makers Paul Murray and David Shelley this week announced the foundation of Tactical Simulations Interactive, a "new independent video games studio with old school RPG sensibilities." Their hope is to recreate the meaningful experiences of classic SSI games like Pool of Radiance and Curse of the Azure Bonds.

David Shelley, Producer/Lead Designer, TSI expands on the company's goals:

Tactical Simulations Interactive is a return to providing the player full control of their party, with a focus on creating immersive and unforgettable story experiences, exciting exploration, meaningful social/political choices, and robust tactical combat.”

The company's got a few days before it's ready to make any particular announcements regarding new projects but to keep an eye on TSI's doings, visit their website once it comes online next week.

    Very good news. :D

This almost rounds out the core group of folks known for some great games getting back together and forming their own studio. With what is out, about to come out, and planned to release within the next roughly 1.5 years, this is a new era (I hope) of the classic rpg experience resurgence.

I'd love to see what they could do with a new IP, but even if they just license modules to make into great crpgs, I will be happy. Now if gog could just get all of their old classic SSI games. All of them. Like asap nauw! ;)

The ssi games are originals of D&D role playing on PC and Mac .

Tea Party talk about ssi2 and tsr games (little letters) but nvrmind

for now as the (unpolitical) new conservative admonition is not uh

problem for the future of http://www.tsrgames.com as Wizards um

absorbed the tsr.com webpage for "intellectual property" . a rant ...

Thanks , keep on "Getting People Back in the Game" . . . id2 Eberis

Those good old SSI games were great. Let's wish them a lot of luck and hope for something great!

Maybe they'll do another panzer general or fantasy general game too. Probably the best military TBS ever made.

Fantasy General was my vice back in the day.  Great to hear legendary CRPG devs teaming up for another go in the industry.

Not only do I want GoG to get all the SSI games up and running (would be a dream) I also want them to get the SirTech  team on the phone (creators of the Wizardry Series) so they can make Wizardry 9!!!
