All I know is that I queued for over 2 hours to get into my home Cyrodil PvP . So, for those who "believe" that the game is going to not only go FTP, but shut down within a year, you are sadly mistaken. The banks are full of people playing in the towns I frequent. My guild always has at least 40 to 50 people on at any given time.
The game is doing very well for those who enjoy it. But it seems like those who dislike the game, all have the same story... ESO is closing its doors because I did not like it. Sorry to burst your bubble, but ESO is here to stay for a very long time. And to top it off, Zenimax is listening to their subscribers, and they are adding much more great content to the game, while minimizing the bugs, bots and gold sellers. I have not seen or heard from 1 gold seller in over 2 months playing. I have not seen a bot in that time either. The game is getting better and better, but it is certainly not for everyone's playstyle. That does not make it suck for all, only for you.
As for the naysayers and doom and gloomers... Until I see cold hard facts that support all this FTP and Closings, I will continue to enjoy ESO every time I log in. Could it be that maybe it is just some sour grapes, that some of us have found a game we can truly enjoy, while the rest of you still cannot seem to find any game that pleases you. Some peoples expectations are so ridiculous that no MMORPG will ever measure up to their standards.
Originally posted by boxsndThe game will definitely go F2P or shut down within 2014-2015. It had 770k subs in june and since then activity has dropped at least 50% and will continue dropping. These numbers just aren't viable for an AAA MMO.
What fantasy land do you live in where ESO would shut down in 2014, which we have 5 months remaining of.Some of these posts are lacking in common sense.
Shutting down in 2015 or going F2P in 2014 is very likely. Don't forget that big releases are coming with AA, WoD, EQN etc. which will hit ESO hard. ESO is already bleeding subs at a very high rate and it will get worse.
Boxsnd, you of course have eyes on the company sensitive information that shows TESO is bleeding subs?
When it come to eyes, you need them checked Boxsnd, WoD is dead:
So forgive me if I raise my own eyebrow at the validity of your 'insider' information.
WoD = Warlords of Draenor.
And no, I don't have official information. But I have eyes and see what is happening to ESO's communities around the net. What is happening to ESO right now is exactly what happened to SWTOR in 2012, but WAY faster. Zenimax's last hope is the console release but they pretty much need a miracle at this point. My prediction is that 2-3 months after the console release they will either announce F2P or they will fire devs or move them to other projects and leave the game with a skeleton crew until they shut it down in 2015.
Got numbers to prove/support what your "eyes" are seeing? Oh wait, you already said answered that. Think your eyes are seeing through tinted lenses by chance? Lenses that skew the world to a particular point of view like the only one you want to see?
Could the game go F2P? Sure it can. Games tend to pull in more money that do, but I haven't had anywhere near the troubles getting PUGs in ESO that I did in SWTOR for the same time frame. Maybe my experiences are the norm, maybe they aren't, but if I were to say the game was doing great and growing based off of my experiences then I would be guessing just like you are.
Until we have numbers none of us really know if the game is doing well or not.
But we do have numbers. Reddit (subs/online), twitch, /vg/, raptr, steam, forums like this one (views/posts/threads etc.), comments on articles on popular blogs etc. There are a lot of numbers that you can compare with other MMOs and easily find out where ESO stands and what the future holds. And the future seems bleak.
Either you have numbers or you don't. Just the post before this one you said you had nothing "official". Now Reddit, twitch, /vg/, raptr, steam, and other forums have provided you with "numbers"? Well, let's see the analysis. Do you have any? Did those sources do any?
But that's the problem isn't it?
By your own admission these "numbers" are in no way "official" since that is what you said before. Besides, you didn't then nor have you posted links to support your points.
