Am I the only one thinking the best thing for ESO right now, or at least after their next content update would be a free returning weekend for prior subs? I enjoyed the game but not enough to pay for it. Ive seen quite a bit of change going around but am not confident enough to push the $15 for another month to try. Think they will ever do something like this? I feel it would bring some folks back.

Maybe after a few more updates? I know that quite a few folks were disgusted with the bots, the bugs, etc right at launch. They've done a great job cleaning up some of the initial problems. If that is what drove off folks, a free weekend would help.
Overall though, the game kinda plays the same. Really it is a quest based game at its heart and not much has changed from what I can see. Some my friends just became bored to death with the endless questing ahead of them and moved back to their favorite games. I'm still plugging along in ESO but frankly feel that it is a bit of a bland game.
Whilst all things are possible in my opinion no. Currently the game isn't sufficiently "different" to when it launched so it wouldn't be demonstrating anything.
I could see a "trial" at the time of the console launch and there could be a PC tie in. Two reasons: to generate publicity as part of a marketing drive; and for consoles specifically to test the server set up (a stress test if you like).
Beyond that you are into discussions about a different business model and that has been talked about in other threads.
