Just Built a Killer Gaming Machine

Spankster77Spankster77 Member UncommonPosts: 487

Now what??

I just built this killer gaming PC and last night I logged on installed ESO, Wildstar, and Rift and then watched TV for the remainder of the evening :-(

Looking for a game that captivates me, can't seem to find one :-(

This is like having a smoking hot girlfriend that you can't hookup with!

Everyone has different tastes in games. Asking for general advice on an internet forum does not usually help unless you talk about the kind of games you like.

Personally i have too many fun (to me) games to play.

D3, Marvel Heroes, STO, Sniper Elite v3, Wolfenstein, and even old games i have not finished ....

I am into fantasy MMOs mostly.

    Games I really enjoyed:

    1. WoW

    2. Shadowbane

    3. Oblivion

    4. LoTRO

    5. EQ

    Yup!

and at least for me all the good games I like dont require much graphics to run. Its a bit sad actually

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

Always good to future proof your machine seeing as they are a good investment that can last you a REALLY long time. I bought a machine custom made top of the line almost 8 years ago and it is still serving me good to this day. I have the ability and skill to design my own, but for only $20 more than what it would cost to build myself I had it built. I despise dealing with thermal paste and making sure the cords are neat and all the other minor stuff.

you arent going to find an mmo that can really push your new gaming rig to the max. mmo companies arent that stupid. they know they arent going to make a lot of money if they push out 95% of potential customers because they dont have top of the line gaming rigs. those computers are mainly for the eye popping -flavor of the month- single player game that just got released. the most you can probably do with a high end pc in mmo is multiclient. try forming your own group with multiple clients.

You wait.  Wait for a game to come out this is graphically amazing and puts your computer to the test.  Until then, remember what it was like not having an awesome super computer.  Remember the lag, the low graphics, REMEMBER!

And after you remember, thank your lucky stars you are lucky enough to have an awesome super computer that will run anything and everything on max settings!

I remember being 14 years old playing everquest on my parent's gateway.  It took me 1 minute and 30 seconds generally to load every zone.  I had all settings at low.  I remember buying EVE and Shadowbane, and my computer not being able to run them.  How when I tried, it lagged SOOOO bad.

Now, I too have an awesome computer.  And I am very grateful that I do not have to suffer from lag and feel good knowing I can play anything and everything!

I do very much understand your feeling of having the awesome computer and "nothing to do with it".  I feel like I should be able to control space cars on the moon, or solve the worlds problems, but alas, I just make gaming videos and play my various games.

I wonder if this is how people with "super fast super custom amazing cars" feel.  All that speed and "coolness" (subject to debate) but no where to use it at.

I am entitled to my opinions, misspellings, and grammatical errors.

Why would you build a super gaming rig if you are not playing a game which needs it? Seems a bit backwards to me as I always upgrade my computer when a game I am playing, or soon will be playing, requires it.

I tend to follow a similar pattern. When an MMO that really grabs my attention, one that makes an upgrade an entertainment investment, I will get new hardware.

Right now I am running a Pentium D, 2.8 Dual core. It was state of the art in... 2004?

OP I'm pretty sure you meant an mmorpg to play for the long haul, but you could try Far Cry 3 or something just to see how it handles! Even Skyrim might be nice.

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
