World of Warcraft: Blizzard Trolls Fans in Latest Artcraft

The latest Artcraft developer diary for World of Warcraft has been posted. This week's entry features a look at the new Troll character models that will arrive with Warlords of Draenor. Both male and female models are included!

One of the unique challenges for the Troll models were their tusks. In the character customization options, you have the ability to select from a number of tusk “styles.” While other race models (like the Tauren) have similar customization options, the additional modeling, texturing, and animation articulation of the Troll face—and mouth especially—made this a distinctive challenge. We actually had to model the Troll with a flat lower lip; then, for each facial customization option, we went in and posed their lips to naturally wrap around each tusk option.

    The new Trolls look really nice in my mind.. Maybe it will be time to roll that Troll druid in WoD. Free 90 and all. (don´t worry... I have a Ally Druid already... So it is ok.)

    It's sad that so many people insist this is just a retexturing. It's clearly so much more and far better than EQs attempt at updated models back in the day.

    I still to this day don't get the love for the original EQ models.  The newer ones may not be amazing, but fit the game very well and hold up after all these years (animations are subpar though). 

     

    WoW had a much better starting point.  I agree that how impressive what they have done is lost on/ignored by most people, but they had a very good base to start with.

    original models are so much better animated, standing still on your character screen luclin models has them beat np, except troll wtf??

    Hmmm, not sure yet, but looks to me like they are hurting trademark Wow "cartoony look" with woman model, ok for man.
