[Preview] Risen 3: Titan Lords: So Far, So Cheesy

It was with trepidation that I booted up Risen 3: Titan Lords, Piranha Bytes’ newest entry to the RPG franchise. Out today on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3, Risen 3 is still rife with the campy voice overs its forebears are famous for, but I’d also say my first couple of hours have been… surprisingly fun. Titan Lords isn’t going to sweep awards at year’s end, but so far it’s been an enjoyable RPG. Read on for more of our first impressions.

    I don't know. Comparing it as a version of the mentioned quote, makes me want to approach the game cautiously. Maybe wait for a sale in 3 or 4 months.

    Yup, I am also waiting for it to be on sale. Mostly just because my Steam Library already has too many unfinished games though.

    Risen 3 is by far the worst of the Risen games.  Graphics from 5 years ago, character models from 10 years ago, terrible combat system, on rails with no free roam like the previous games had and voice acting that is truly cringe worthy.  Avoid like the plague and somewhere in the deepest halls of Piranha Bytes someone may just get a clue that the time has come to put this series to bed once and for all.

    Played for a couple hours tonight and enjoying it personally. You certainly can't judge it with 30 min.

    Find it brilliant as previous Risen / Gothic games.

    This is heavy European game, fairly old-school, and I wouldnt recommend it to players that grew up on Skyrim or Dragon Age.

    Never played risen 1 or 2 but glad I picked up 3. So far it is a fun game. Is it a groundbreaking game no. But still having fun with it.
