Out of all the mmorpg i have seen in the last 14 years since i started playing mmorpg's i haven't seen a game that's great not perfect but great get this much crap. Every mmorpg has it's problems but since WoW came out this is the first mmorpg that gave me that old school feeling after i made my charater first thing i did was turn around and jumped into the water with my friend and went for a swim around for 30 mins i haven't seen that in years, Most of the time you run into an invisible wall or your too far out turn back and the best one turn back or die. Current mmorpg focus on solo play and end game raid/dungeon grind i use to be a hardcore WoW player after wotlk i had to quit if you didn't have a raid to do there was little to do in the game besides dailies. I love that archeage makes grouping up a thing again i remember FF11 you couldn't do anything without a healer once you hit a certain level but it was fun. Some of my best friends today i met in a mmorpg cause they brought people together now a day i don't even read game chats just solo along. Archeage has it's problems but the game has a lot going for it and XL games did a great job on i see people everyday on this forum bashing this game my favorite one is i played 10 level and quit the quest was boring it's not a sandbox game. Anyone who is interested in the game please do your research to determine if the game is right for you before bashing and complaining about the game without knowing anything about it. I put together my thoughts on the game and experience with it so far and some good video's so showcase the game.
Some of the things archeage does right
World - Seamless open world last good mmorpg that didn't put you into loaded zone was lineage 2 WoW did a great job keeping you in the world without them but you still had to load when you traveled to different continents. Archeage is the first mmorpg in years that let you buy land and maintain it the game makes you feel apart of the world.

Economy - I know people hate the labor point system and crafting system i think it's great yes it restricts you from crafting anytime you want but it makes working together with of people very beneficial. Example you can have a friend who does metalwork while you do carpentry have your friend send you 300 logs to convert into lumber and you can send him 300 iron to turn into bars that help both of you save labor points with mass production instead of you trying to level both crafts. Trade run's are another great feature that puts players in the world not in instance where you only see your party member.

Housing - Housing in the game is great i can't remember the last good mmorpg that let you place house's in the world probably star wars galaxy. Yes space is limited but you can alway share a house with a friend both of you putting your LP and crafting materials together to finish the house you don't have to do everything by yourself.

Traveling - Mounts can wear armor level up you also ride flying ships,carriages,boats all of these thing have been in other mmorpgs in different ways but archeage makes traveling rewarding yes you can portal but not with a trade pack on your back.

Player vs Player - I think pvp in the game is done right in many way's i like how from 1-30 for the most part your in a safe zones while the game eases you into the world. Most games have pvp servers with open Pvp that means some max level player can come along and kill you ruining your exp before you get an understand of the game. In archeage Pvp is design into the game so once you get to the Pvp zone/area you have a better understand of the game your class and build. After you get your foot in the door having that sense of danger in the world is great the game makes traveling with friends for extra protection fun because you never know who or what is around the corner.

Some of the things archeage does wrong
Questing - Questing is nothing special or new i do like the under and over achieving it does take away some of the dullness to it but the quest are run here grab that go here for the first 1-30 it's hand holding. XL games said in a couple of interviews that they went with the design to help eases and familiarize the player with some thing they understand but still it's boring and a grind.

Classes and equipment - I think the 10 skill set are a great idea but the armor stats at end game limits what build you can effectively play as a good Pvp class. The gear seem to build around tank melee dps,magic range dps, melee range dps, and new healing power gear isn't design to help hybrids builds more viable. I heard before 1.2 you could hybrid a little better but i'm not 100% sure it would be nice to have gear design to make hybrids a lot more effective in the game. Acheage has 120 classes and 80-90 aren't great better stats on end game gear can help.

I hope the video's help if you like any of the channel's throw them a subscribe a lot of them do good work and let get back to the old day's where we didn't troll every game that came out and tried or else things will near change for the better. Games like ESO zenimax should be ashamed for putting out that crap i still don't know how bethesda let them get away with it.

The game isn't horrible, in fact as a sandbox its pretty good.
But as a self sufficient player, between housing/crafting (not even factoring pvp/factions) I did some rough calculations (for my play style) during beta and felt I would end up living in the game more than IRL.
Gone are those days for me.

There are tons of things that can be improved but overal this mmo offers the pvp in all kinds and forms i like.
From 1 vs 1 arena to small scale gangbangs to full out wars for zone controls to naval combat.
Add to that the choice off all those classes wich are pretty balanced as almost any class has a ying and yang.
If you are burned out from all the blood that pvp offers you can chill out in a dungeon or making gold on your farm without to much of a hassle.

Looking at patch 1.7 and beyond there are comming some monster updates that makes this mmo even more sandbox so the future looks a shit ton better.
With Trion Worlds so involved with its playerbase to listen to us what we like and what can be changed i cant ask for more.
Sure it still has its flaws, but damn its beating any mmo i ever played and so its making me a happy camper

I do have something positive to say about ArcheAge but in the end its core statement is actually negative toward the gaming industry as a whole
For a 'mainstream' game for the masses it actually pulls in features for people that they have never seen before and will likely start to appreciate and in the future and such players will come to expect it. That said, all the features have existed in indie games for a long time.
For me personally I had several issues with the game I didnt like and personally felt it really wasnt that good compared to the games in my queue now. But with that said, I am glad the masses are starting to experience things like ship combat. welcome to new innovation guys

For example, I got quests that gave me nearly 3000 XP to kill mobs I would have killed anyway as part of grinding.

For most people below level 40 grinding is pretty slow. With a great AOE spec though its possible.
Once you hit 40+ though you can kill level 51+ mobs and grab over 3k-6k xp per kill or so. At that point the mobs becomes much quicker than questing. You could maybe do that earlier if you have some high level friends. They probably would have some classes they haven't leveled up yet anyways.
The level 1 bots outside Windshade on Omega server don't care how effective their aoe attacks are. Was a watching a toon called "Vccbcbbcvb" who was running out of the respawn spot, aoe'ing until he died. He'd lie there for about a minute, then respawn and run out and start aoe'ing again. Over and over and over and over again. Being a bot, he didn't care of course. He's probably L15 by now...
I agree that the game isn't perfect but it does have a lot of different things you an do in it.
I know one of the biggest complaints of the game (not counting the lp system) is the quests. I agree that they are not well written and mostly your typical mmo quest. Do you have to do them, not really but if you are out killing mobs for xp why not get a little more xp and take the quests? Anyway there is only so many ways to do quests in games and don't start that GW2 heart system is the greatest. It is different but after 40 levels of it you get tired of it you realize you have 40 more levels to go!
Anyway, game is very good, maybe great but it isn't perfect.

It's not perfect, but then again, no game is.
It is however the most interesting MMO I've played since EVE. It's also possibly the most gentle introduction to the concept of sandbox gaming that I've ever seen. It's so deceptively themeparky at the start that many (if not most) modern players will simply write it off as nothing special.
It's only when you sit down and ask yourself: "How exactly am I going to get those special resources from the other continent without being killed ?" that things start becoming clearer.
There are also places where you can get nearly 2k exp per mining node, and you are surrounded by endless nodes.
Killing/questing isn't the only way. The XP from crafting GREATLY differs depending on what you are gathering or creating.
I can also get 250xp per fish when fishing.
Hell there are activities you can do while not even at the PC (see fishing above) amongst many others. I have leveled toons where 1/3 of my XP I acquired on my way to 50 was completely afk.
so be fair and mention how much XP you get from the mobs and quests in the same region as you got 2k per mining.
Also keep in mind you can quest and mob kill 24 hours a day and not use any LP.....funny, that was the straw for me

No game can be all things to all people so the image of perfection is a lie. We expect everything to be perfect in life because we hold ourselves up to the same absurd ideal. If we would accept ourselves as we truly are, we would in turn accept the world as it is, and we would then know peace. The MMO community has been restless for awhile now. So many of us are looking for the white whale of games, the prolific perfect MMO. And every game we've played since beginning the search has only disappointed us because we didn't accept the game for what it was; we just wanted it to be everything that it wasn't. There are enough different kinds of games out there to scratch particular itches so perhaps we'd all be better off if we picked the few elements of gameplay we like the most and then finding a game that satiates us just enough instead of expecting a game to come along that executes every aspect of MMO's to perfection because that's never, ever going to happen.
Most who have said that ArcheAge sucks were simply looking for something else and were disappointed when they didn't find it in ArcheAge. But that doesn't mean the game sucks. It just means expectations were out of balance. I remained open when I gave ArcheAge a try but I soon realized this game wasn't built for me or the type of player that I am. Sure, even for what ArcheAge is trying to do, it's not perfect. It's not the first MMO of its kind that I've played so I can see areas in which AA can improve, but if I really liked sandbox PvP, I'd be excited to play something new and innovative because in MMO's of any kind, there's always room to improve.
Great game, great endeavor and I hope it only improves.
I just can't stand the quests. I can't stand the idea of having the game tell me what to do and where to go. And I understand the logic of "You want to teach the players how to play the game", but does that take 30 levels? Really? Or how about having the players discover on their own? Do they not remember the magic it felt when you discovered something new by yourself? When you found out "Oh hey, I can do this now? I didn't know that, cool". Or just ask other players how to do something, it at least builds conversations, fosters community helping one another, and more.
It's a shame that we in the game industry feel that our more casual audience is also utterly dumb that they cannot figure out a game...I hope that this kind of thing ends in our industry, and believe me there are a lot of people who keep trying to push that...but in the mmo field, taking any kind of unecessary risk is dangerous territory.

Who cares? People who are looking for that sort of content shouldn't bother with this game. It isn't that sort of game. There are better MMORPGs out there for someone who just wants to solo quests and grind mobs all day.
