I had high hopes for this update, It just fails in some area's that worked. Some things that worked really well got nerfed  Jumpjets are what this game was about but they are almost useless now. Changes to a lvling system would have been ok but the amount of xp to gain a lvl is really insanly high. So any new player's coming into the game will struggle. And it still takes a clip of ammo to kill a mob. Probably why they made the secondary weapon with infinate ammo was hoping they would fix this. So many players with advanced frames are pissed because of abilities all have really long cooldowns on them.  Changes to the glider time limits has everyone pissed off. And still no way of getting around faster than on foot is still a problem for some. Newbies will find it tough to get into this game now. The new crafting system is ok but getting resourses is alot harder now. I spent 2 hours in a thumping squad and got mostly dirt for my time.  I'm sure some things will get flushed out over time but right now not so good. Just have to wait and see what they do. The things that got nefted surprised everyone.

this is a real shame - the jumpjets were really the best part of the game I played

gliders early on were really cool too - there were areas of obvious uplift so you could finagle your way over and manage to glide that much further - they nerfed that pretty quickly for some reason

I had high hopes for this update, but am somewhat disappointed. Red 5 has taken what could have been a unique game and made it common. They trashed a wonderful crafting system and really trashed the fantastic jet packs. New Eden is a shadow of it's former self. I miss what Firefall used to be pre .9 update. Red five did not listen to their players. At least I got in on the beta during the great .8 days and will remember getting lost in having absolute fun in the game.

You said it well, and I agree.

I understand that a lot of what made the game unique also made it complex, but I feel that it also was nearly everything that was good about the game.  I want to balance my frame, hunt resources, craft awesome gear that is customized to focus on exactly what stats I wanted.  Instead of that I have level grinding and another shooter with "perks."

    A good write up.

Pretty fair on nearly all accounts

I never really crafted in a game until Firefall .8. Crafting in most games is a silly exercise that really means nothing because you have little control over what you make and have to start all over again when they raise the max level (which I pretty much guarantee Red 5 will do).  I made some really nice weapons with 2 cpu cores and sold them . It was engaging.  Now it's not worth the effort.

I hope I dont experience the same. Or else... all my download time for nothing especially since I want to try out those different battleframes and the gliders.

Question though... how long does it take to level up to 5 or 10? how many hours?

Will have to play it a bit to see the drastic changes, hopefully it doesn't turn out for the worse.
