A Galaxy Divided
We all know Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided has failed after the New Game Enhancements had been implemented into the game. Subscriptions are down. It seems like if this doesnt rebound, there will be no Star Wars MMOG. So I have made a proposal to keep both spirits of the game survive.
You may ask me how this will happen. I believe I know the answer. Star Wars Galaxies as we now know today will not be Star Wars Galaxies. It will turn into the third installment of Star Wars Battlefront; it will be entirely online based. We will keep most of the professions. It will keep bounty hunter, commando, light jedi, dark jedi, medic, officer, pilot, smuggler and spy, but it will remove entertainer and trader.
The character selection process is simple. You choose your avatars natural look and what clothes or armor he or she will wear. In this game, wearing clothes and armor will not do anything but change your appearance. They will not have defensive or buffing properties to them. Character creation will now make you choose which faction you want to play, imperial or rebel. No one is neutral. You will choose which iconic profession to be next. (There might be clothing restrictions for the profession/faction you are playing for.)
After that, it will make you choose which weapons you want to fight with. In your inventory you may have three weapons. Two primaries and one secondary. You will be able to change this as you play. Keep in mind that this new game will not include any levels at all. Every weapon of the same name is the same now. Every class will have five primary weapon choices and three secondary weapon choices.
REBELLION UNIT CLASSES:
-Bounty Hunter
Primary weapon choices: Lightning Rifle, Proton Carbine, Czerka Dart Carbine, Coynite Disruptor Rifle, Retribution
Secondary weapon choices: SR Combat Pistol, Flechette Pistol, Scatter Pistol
Special ability: Flying jetpack
-Commando
Primary weapon choices: Flame Thrower, Heavy Acid Rifle, Heavy Particle Beam Cannon, Acid Stream Launcher, Lightning Beam Cannon
Secondary weapon choices: Rocket Launcher, Proton Grenade, Glop Grenade
Special ability: Slower than other troops due to heavy firepower (okay its a negative so sue me, they are more powerful, isnt that a special ability?!)
-Light Jedi
Primary weapons: Light Saber (different colors available) Automatic regeneration of Force power, Saber Throw
Secondary weapon choices: One light side power and one neutral power.
LIGHT SIDE POWERS
[Mind Trick] Allows the Jedi to take control either a NPC or player for a short period of time, making them fight for the rebellion.
[Force Cure] Cures the Jedi of any negative effects placed on him. Heals him and allies near him.
[Force Armor] Incases the Jedi with the Force, protecting him from all normal attacks.
[Force Absorb] Allows a Jedi to absorb dark side powers and use it as his own Force.
NEUTRAL POWERS
[Force Push] Pushes an enemy or a group of enemies away from you.
[Force Pull] Pulls an enemy or a group of enemies closer to you.
[Force Run] Allows the Jedi to run extremely fast as long as there is Force.
[Force Accelerate] Force Ability allows a Jedi to accelerate himself with the Force, making their attacks faster and having a greater chance to deflect enemy attacks.
DARK SIDE POWERS
[Force Lightning] A wave of lightning comes out of the Jedis fingers, damaging anyone in front of him.
[Force Drain] Dark force energy waves the air as it drains the enemy to replenish the Jedi.
[Force Choke] A terrible choke that makes the gripped unable to attack or control himself, slowly killing him.
[Force Mind Blast] A powerful dark side power instantly killing any enemy after a five second focus.
You are probably asking me how this makes the game fair. Dark side powers make the dark jedi vulnerable to attacks while using them. Trust me, it aint that unbalanced.
-Medic
Primary weapon choices: CY-M Carbine, EE3 Carbine, Subnose Carbine, CDEF Carbine, DC15 Carbine
Secondary weapon choices: Alliance Disruptor, Tangle Pistol, Republic Blaster
Special ability: Has re-supply kits to heal/collect ammo for him and others
-Officer
Primary weapon choices: Trandoshan Hunting Rifle, Taskmaster Gauss Rifle, Proton Rifle, LD-1 Rifle, Berserker Rifle
Secondary weapon choices: E5 Carbine, Bola Carbine, Rilctur Carbine
Special ability: Has the ability to tame intelligent creatures like Ewoks and Jawas to fight for their side
-Pilot
Primary weapon choices: CDEF Rifle, SG82 Rifle, Spraystick, AK-Prime Rifle, Jawa Ion Rifle
Secondary weapon choices: Power5 Pistol, DL44 Pistol, D18 Pistol
Special ability: Automatic slow repair of vehicles when inside of them, can repair them fast outside. Is able to repair destroyed medic and supply droids without the thirty-minute spawn of the next fix.
-Smuggler
Primary weapon choices: FWG5 pistol, Ion Stunner Pistol, Coynite Disruptor Pistol, Renegade Pistol, Perfectly-Calibrated Pistol
Secondary weapon choices: Cryoban Grenade, Thermal Detonator, C22 Grenade
Special ability: Makes control points faster respond to their presence; changes them very fast
-Spy
Primary weapon choices: SFOR Carbine, Elite Carbine, E11 Carbine, DXR6 Carbine, Laser Carbine
Secondary weapon choices: Ion Relic Pistol, Trandoshan Suppressor Pistol, KYD21 Pistol
Special ability: Has a cloak that allows him or her to go invisible for short periods of time
Note: The names do not matter; the only thing that matters is the skins. We can use the skins of the weapons and then change their names. Every single weapon will be changed to play differently, just like how Battlefront 1 & 2 has it. Now copy all of these iconic classes for the empire and change the light jedi to dark jedi. As well, edit any alliance and imperial weapons with different names and backgrounds.
So there will be no traders or entertainers. They are not needed, as there will be no player construction or entertainers in this game. However, static cities will now be more important than ever. After you die, you will be automatically cloned at the nearest static city cloning center under your allegiance control. Every city will have checkpoints for both the Empire and the Rebellion to control. As well, there will be checkpoints scattered across the planet at various important places.
Unlike Star Wars Galaxies, there will be no empty cities anymore. Why? Because it should all be done on ONE SINGLE SERVER that can hold a trillion times more than the average SWG server can now days! You will be able to look at your map and see the colors of the planet, blue being your side red their side controlled.
All combat that is in space now will turn over to Battlefront 2 style. I think this would make things much fun than how its currently being played out as.
All static cities have important check points that you can use for various reasons if and only if your faction is controlling that checkpoint:
Bank: Banks serve the purpose of transactions from faction to individual. When you gain enough credits from killing members of the opposite faction, you will be able to exchange the weapons you are currently using. They will not be more powerful, but every weapon is different and gives advantages/disadvantages, so its best you switch when you need to. Each bank of every city will be a check point.
Cantina: Cantinas allows players to change their appearance with the NPC image designers inside of them. However, this comes to a cost and the more you alter the more credits you must pay the image designer. Each cantina of every city will be a check point.
Capital: Capital buildings are extremely important. Which ever side is controlling the capital building of a planet is currently controlling that planet, even if they do not have much land on the planet. Capital buildings have droids to heal you and for ammo. As well, capital buildings function as a free spawning place for assault vehicles, but the capital building cannot repair them. Each capital is considered a check point.
Cloning Facility: Where you are respawned to every time you die. Having the cloning facility really states whether you are controlling the city and defending it or trying to take control over it, being the assailer. Each cloning facility is considered a checkpoint.
Garage: Garages serve to make and repair vehicles. Garages will spawn vehicles like the capital building will, but unlike the capital building will not spawn offensive vehicles. Garages will spawn transport vehicles on demand, unlike capital cities in which you have to wait. You have the ability to buy offensive vehicles from garages with enough credits. Each garage is considered to be a checkpoint.
Guild Hall: Yes, every guild hall will be a checkpoint. Guild halls are important because of two reasons. Guild halls are the only place you can register a guild in the game and if your side happens to lose the guild hall, then you will lose your guild. Secondly, guild halls do have supply droids.
Medical Center: Medical centers will have healing droids inside of them, making them valuable in case you become badly injured in combat. You will only have one health bar now, and it will not regenerate. Every medical center is a checkpoint.
Hotel: Hotels will have supply droids in them. Hotels will allow you to gamble the credits youve earned killing others. Every hotel is a checkpoint.
Shuttleport: The shuttleport is extremely important to control. It allows fast transportation in the planet itself and controlling it will allow you to assault a city with many troops. Shuttleports will now transport you for free and with absolutely no delays.
Starport: The starports are just like shuttleports instead allowing for intergalactic travel instead of just on the planet. Starports also allow you to buy your very own starship as well if you have the credits to do so.
Special City Structures: Up to the developers digression. Just dont be stupid about it, please
Remove all missions, quests, and instances in the game. Seriously. Include more player events and recreate all GCW vehicles to be played on this game. Also, have an intergalactic scoreboard of the best to worst players. It would show: enemy kills, deaths, friendly kills, suicides, and check point assistance points.
What about PvE? Yep, this is still in the game. Beasts will spawn and most likely you will have to kill them. Intelligent creatures will spawn as well, and often they can be tamed by officers to fight for your side. They cannot be tamed twice, however, so once you turn a gungan to a rebel he will stay rebel until he dies.
You remember the rankings we had with faction standing? There will be faction standing but this will be only to your ranking and it updates your ranking automatically as you progress though the game. Your ranking will not change how much things cost for you, UNLESS you are a smuggler. It is usually only for prestige. As an Imperial, how much you earn in faction standing and credits will depend on what species you are, as well as the species of your enemy. As a rebel, how much you earn in faction standing and credits will depend on you and your opponents history, earning more for a notoriously harder imperial.
Okay, so what happens on planets like Lok with only one starport? This is a bit complicated, so let me explain. Everybody gets a starter ship to start that cannot be deleted and regenerates if destroyed once a day. This game will allow you to pull up your starship in the game, allowing you to pilot away from a planet as long as you are sure no one is going to attack the ship. This is why shuttleports and starports will still be important, as it does take awhile to do this
I almost forgot to add this in. Jedi will only be able to change their powers with Jedi NPCs at the Jedi encaves in the game that will be checkpoints. I wasn't too big into the Jedi thing while playing SWG so yeah...

This one is easy. Just revert everything youve done as for revamping (not content) until just before the Jedi trials. I dont know; maybe do some polls to ask people what they want out of SWG again. Anything but NGE SWG. PLEASE.

See the problem is... SOE has shown that they hire coders straight out of high school with no experience whatsoever. At least that is how their coding scheme comes off. Pretty much every system that SOE has built ad hoc from the release of the game has had major bugs, some not going fixed for years.

Star Wars Galaxies has but one fix - roll back to pre-cu and work on balancing the combat / armour / buffs and weapons, dump $OE and LA to remove themselves completely from the development and decision making process on gameplay.
The only other realistic option is to pull the plug and avoid the words 'Star Wars Galaxies' in any title and 'Live the experience' or 'Live the dream' in any of the marketing.
