New Classes in SWTOR.

    A proper MMO would have given you a fresh character, and then choose which path to take, and then if you change your mind do a bit of grinding and be on the opposite side, but as SWTOR is story driven you can only follow the path Bioware has set out for you.

    They could easily make Bounty Hunter, Smuggler, Commando, Agent be for both sides. So in SWTOR  there are no stormtrooper / smuggler characters on the Imperial side, and no Officers or Bounty Hunters on the republic side?

    Wow, you two SWG fanatics seemed to simply miss the background of a few things

     

    The Bounty Hunter class represents the Manadlorians, not an average bounty hunter. Look at the faction icon. You see in the old wars between the Republic and the Empire, Mandalor decided to side with the sith to fight the Jedi. While there may be actual "bounty hunters" everywhere (thanks to the BH event) the BH CLASS is a Mandalorian, so NO there will be NO BH on the Republic side.

    At this time there are no "pureblood" sith left. You are correct no one in born sith. BUT if you know your SW history there are Sith and there are sith. One is a Race, and one is an ideology. In this game you are a sith, not a Sith. The Sith they offer, are the descendents of the Sith, not purebloods themselves.

     

    Now Back on topic

    new classes, no, not yet in my opinion. I'd rather see a BH being able to have more than just blasters, I'd rather see scatterguns actually used rather than accessories. Characters "should" be able to use what weapon they want. Id rather have that before new classes

    With all the voice over it will take to make a new class, I dont think there will be a new class. Unless they find some smart way to recycle conversations from other classes.

    Just wasn't your thing.  I had multiple accounts, and I spent quite a bit of time on my entertainer.  They were great when you really didn't want to go out killing stuff, but still wanted to chat in game.  After AFK buffing became the norm I would occasionally go in on my combat toons and would give a 1 mil tip to the first entertainer that was at the keys.

    Witches of Dathomir - would be a cool race and class addition, could allow for male versions i.e. warlocks.  So, less structured Force using, more chaotic.

    Creature Handler for sure - Companion system would need to be worked around, but it can be done.  Playing a "pet" class in EQ2 with a Merc helping me is more what I see, but then that would make the class the ultimate soloer, but then again, all classes can solo.

    Battle Droid -  or some variation.  Like IG-88.  I know, he was a bounty hunter, but maybe have the class have a mix of Bounty Hunter, Agent and Smuggler to make a new variation.  new race added too, Droids.

    Teras Kasi master - game needs a hand to hand class and would be different enough from everything else.  Loved going off on Rancors as a Teras Kasi master in SWG, was so fun. Basically Star Wars version of monk.

    So, that's what I've come up with in my head, sure I could think of tons of others, but alot would be hybrids of what is already there.

     Obvious that you never played an entertainer in SWG. If you actually did, it clearly wasn't the class for you. It's ok. Not everyone understood SWG.

    You can downplay my tongue and cheek description of Entertainers all you want by claiming that I "never understood SWG" (even though I am prob the only person who posts on these forums who got jedi pre NGE), the fact remains that they were a very "non action oriented" class. I was commenting on someone claiming that adding entertainers as they were in SWG would be "fun"....they would be laughed at if they were ever implemented in a modern trinity based themepark.

     Getting a Jedi pre NGE wasn't a big deal tbh. I had 3. Pre CU on the other hand...

    It may come as a big surprise to some but a lot of players enjoyed playing their ent toons. They provided a nice social aspect to the game. Some would create groups and perform as a band or invite people to their cantina. SWG was a totally different game than the mindnumbing themepark shit we got today. My point is that even a "boring" non combat class can be a lot of fun to play. As for adding things, I'd be happy if they added speech bubbles. To roleplay in a chat channel is just the most un-immersive thing ever.

    First, I am going to ignore your almost certainly bogus "I had 3 jedi pre nge"  statement (there were never any confirmed jedi pre holocrons btw), and remind you that what was fun in SWG, deosnt mean it would even remotly transelate to being fun SWTOR. Your little "anyone who likes swtor is lower than me" attitude doesn't fly here buddy. Again, since you seem to be on a "swtor is shit, swg was beast" crusade here, I was talking about having entertainers in swtor....you know...the post that i quoted.....I am sure some people had fun with them in SWG (they were by far the least played class, but lets ignore that for your sake right?), they would be utterly useless in swtor.....you really think people would have fun standing around dancing and not being able to run FPs or OPs, or  WZs in swtor? I get it though, you want to use this as your opening to say "thats why swtor shouldnt exist".....swtor is here, its staying, its vastly more fun, and has multiple times the player base SWG ever drempt of having. Accept it and read the context before activating your SWG defense force ring.

    Good ideas here. 

    I also hope they will eventually expand the professions a bit. Like Actually having missions to the various places that you can send your companions. 

    Off course open space for real bounty and smuggling missions would be awesome..but we all know that is unlikely to happen.

     From your post, it seems like you never played SWG tbh. A LOT of players had a Jedi pre NGE. Get it? NGE. N-G-E. Which means, like I've already said, that many players finished their Jedi grind during the CU. That's right. The combat upgrade. So to school you a bit: First came SWG pre cu - then the CU - followed by the NGE. You getting this, champ??

    So the only bogus post I see, is yours. I highly doubt you played SWG and even more that you ever did the Jedi grind.

    I had 3 Jedi pre- NGE myself. Just missed out on a fourth, by 2 days. If NGE was delayed by 2 days I would have had a fourth.

    There are rumors they are making a second SWTOR, if that is true then it would be better to not sink any more into the first game due to design flaws and performance issues.

    people need to realize this game took a big chunk of change our of ea's coffers.  until it basically makes back what they spent in dev costs EA will not dump a hugh amount of money into new development.  And as long as the cash shop and subs makes them revenue they will be skimpy on addind story or worlds.  if anything I could see them adding a ton to housing and the starfighter elements and never having to actually do anything with level caps or new story content

    I believe they said they already earned it back.

    And later this year we are getting 3.0 which will in fact raise the leveling cap and add a huge chunk of story (the continuation and conclusion of the Forged Alliances storyline that they introduced recently).

    Still, I wouldn't mind seeing more housing over time too.

    Doug Bradley (who voiced the Emperor) has tweeted about being hired to do more voice work SWTOR too, along with many of the other voice actors. So the expansion is definitely coming.

    I for one would love to see a beast master for the Sith, and a droid expert for the Jedi. Or a corrupter  for the Sith where they turn enemies to allies.

It would be an easy pitch to say that they could make one that would outperform ($$$) the original and take advantage of the license that they have while they have it. Bioware likes to work episodically anyway.

    There is a old adage that says "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". In this case, if it is making monye why replace it or even provide something that would directly compete with it. I truly doubt, given the age of SWTOR and if it is making money, that they would ever consider making a totally new version. Not saying it won't happen down the road  but not soonish. Since Bioware can pretty much continue to add updates that make most fans happy, they never actuallly need to make a newer version.

Bioware/EA is determined to do whatever the hell they want, and they have shown that through the life of the game. If that leak is correct they will make a new game, and as far as they are concerned bitching about it would be immaterial. If it got real bad they would give every player a recolored pet robot as a gesture.

    Well point is not that EA wouldn't. My point is much as you are saying, if it makes money they will do it. However, I happen to think that it would not be as profitable to EA to make a new game and try to run it concurrent to the old one. EA will make their decision based upon what they think best benefits their bottom line.

If that leak is correct they will make a new game, and as far as they are concerned bitching about it would be immaterial. If it got real bad they would give every player a recolored pet robot as a gesture.

     

     

    Well point is not that EA wouldn't. My point is much as you are saying, if it makes money they will do it. However, I happen to think that it would not be as profitable to EA to make a new game and try to run it concurrent to the old one. EA will make their decision based upon what they think best benefits their bottom line.

    I agree with you 100%. If EA feels like it will make more money, they will do it, period.

    sorry to subject change but  swg comments where bound to leak on to this thread at some point.

    The rumors are not about a swtor2, it is infact rumors of another SWG type game. Its a quote from SOE president saying that there next game is going to be for the star wars galaxies fans.

    Any one that got a chance to play swg preCU or even CU, knows how much of a game it was. Truly ahead of its time even today I still play swg emu with an acquired copy of swg.

     

    But any way If I had to choose a new class for swtor, it would be infact as suggested CH or droid engineer. which btw is not very original but thinking about it, I cant actually think of an original class my self as I keep being drawn back to classes from swg.
