Job/Subjob Combonation: Your thoughts, please.

I was thinking of a very interesting combo. It would be exceedingly expensive, but it should be able to hold it's own quite well.
Ninja/Ranger
It would have great ranged attack with chakrams or even a pirate's rifle or some other ranged weapon supported by ninja, and then be able to take something down with dual wielded longswords or katanas. It would also be very good at solo hunting, due to both jobs' stealth and tracking skills.
So what do you all think? Is it a combo I should go for? Or should I just scrap it?

www.gamefaqs.com has a good FAQ for subjob combinations. I'm a theif thinking of Ninja and from reading that FAQ this is what I've gathered. Ninja is a melee job and Rangers are ranged. None of the elite classes should be sub'd because their best features come after level 35, which is the highest level a sub will attain. You're always better off choosing a basic job as a sub. I'm planning on Ninja/Theif or Ninja/Warrior. Warrior subjob will give bonus HP's. Theif subjob will give you added damage dealing with sneak attack and trick. So either go with Ranger as your main or Ninja, dont do both.
