Swtor really a game? or a game store?

FeleveFeleve Member UncommonPosts: 14

I liked the game swtor form beta to now.

was very happy with the game play pvp and pve.

was sub from the start lasted the exodus of the players looking for endgame content.

but what made me think of not paying their monthly fee was when they Banned

my F2P account and my Perferred account.

they said that i was using those accounts to cheat them (lot more said then that but still what they meant)

in my thoughts i see the last patched they are doing as another means for them to make more cash from sell

more items in their store.

if you want to play the game be very carefull and watch how much you spend.

down side is you may be selling your real home to buy a non existing computer generated home.

Cash shops, they really are insidious little.. things, and the cash shop in SW;TOR is about as insidious as it is possible to get, appealing, perhaps compelling would be closer, the freeper and the subber alike to partake of its unholy contents. image

Its probably no wonder the amount of money EA made from the thing in their last financial report, i hate to think how much some people are spending, but after seeing things in game, people sure are buying a lot! image

I have a friend that went through the same thing,  but he was also using one account to feed the other, while I can see the issue, I also think banning both accounts is extreme at least in his case at his situation was technically a loophole rather than a blatant violation.

The random loot box crap is in so many games because people don't seem to be able to stop themselves. I've never had any issue spending too much on them because I don't gamble, I just buy the items from the AH but I have friends that have maxed credit cards trying to get a stupid ship in sto.

It's the one thing I'll never argue about when it comes to cash shops. they are a huge negative because they take over. Companies stop offering you a cosmetic item for a price and use these stupid boxes instead. STO, TERA, GW2 ...just about every mmo seems to be going that way because people buy them and they make them way more money than just putting the item in the shop.

I wouldn't be surprised if wow started to add them to their cosmetic shop..random pets /rolleyes

  • goblagobla Member UncommonPosts: 1,412

You can blame cash shops for a lot of bad stuff.

But if you max your credit card then it wasn't a cash shop that did that...

    We are the bunny.
    Resistance is futile.

People demand free games to play, but the "people" seem to think the games are free for companies to run.

I think it's more likely that they expect someone else to pay for their fun.  How many people post here saying idiotic things like "I try to keep my cash out of my mmos".  After all, the majority of the human population is selfish, greedy, self centered morons.

I too have a preferred which I occasionally make subbed, and an f2p for mule and also for "model testing/tweaking" (have that in all my freemium games, I love to dive into the different payment models).

I wonder how the F. could those EAdiots come to the conclusion to have two accounts is "cheating them" :)

I have a feeling that there is a lot more to this.  Like, his free account was for botting and passing the advantage to his preferred account.  Most (not all) of these types of posts are usually withholding the truth.  They paint the situation in their favor and how the big old mean company took away their toys.

That's why I think some more details would be fine. I think very little (lol) of EA, but banning two accounts - that's a bit harsh, even from them. edit: I mean banning them just because they belong to the same dude.

I'm trying to figure out how to read your post but i can't. You had 2 accounts both banned for reasons you do not care to explain. Instead you make a post moaning about SWTOR's cash shop urging us to be mindful about how we spend our money.

We are mindful but thanks for the advice.

How do you expect a F2P game to make money then? people don't want to pay the subs and people don't want to spend money on cash shop.

You know real human beings run these games? and they have real needs just like us for example, food, clothing a roof over their head etc etc..

I'm confused by this as well; banned for cheating is one thing, posting here to make everyone AWARE of SWTORs desire to make money through its cash shop seems like a retort against a company for smacking a cheaters hand.

also, " down side is you may be selling your real home to buy a non existing computer generated home", who does that, seriously. If there are ANY cases of this type of poor judgement, it would fall under a 'Darwin' heading.

I have nothing against putting a cash shop even in a subscription based game and sell some cool mounts or costumes or pets or such. but what really is disgusting about swtor f2p is that they are charging for very simple UI feature like quick bar and hide heat slot and showing title. and not to mention they are even monetizing certain quest items, in some cases(read heroic quests) those items are the only rewards player get but f2p/preferred can't receive quest reward after completing quest. i would not mind if they tried to monetize both sith class and both jedi class; asking 40$ for each of them would not have been too much(let's face it each class story is like a game of it's own) but these restrictions i mentioned earlier are simply lame and disgusting. even as a subscriber i feel ashamed talking to a f2p players when they say it takes time for them to use some skills because they only have 2 quick bar and to use some skills they have to bring up ability page again and again. just shameless and disgusting.

THAT's actually funny; I know that sounds harsh, but if you're on a f2p account and stuck in that predicament, then you're using the game to its maximum potential ... for free. SWTOR is so bloody simple; play the story for free; enjoy a taste of the additional content for free. If you want more, open your wallet. How is that shameless and disgusting?

You seem to compare it to something like showing a starving man a full-course meal, letting him smell it, and then only allowing him to eat if he ponies up cash. Overhyping the sub model negatively just doesn't fly. You can enjoy the SWTOR universe for FREE. If you want to enjoy it to the absolute maximum, pony up. Simple.

While I do agree that SWTOR's F2P system is pretty lackluster.  The 2 bar restriction is for those who have spent $0 on the game.  If they spent $5 they would have 4 quickbars without an issue.  If they are too cheap to spend 5 bucks.  Well, I would rather not game with them anyways.  Personally, I just sub when I play SWTOR.  All these issues are non-issues for me.

wasn't really going to post anything about the how i cheated them.

reason is i was mad not cause they said i was cheating but cause i spend my game coins in opening most all the unlocks in those accounts. maxed inventory and ship cargo holds, epic items eguip, hide head slot and color on companions. really never used them for AH sells or even mules. they lied on  those accounts. the preferred one they said i could  talk to them  about maybe removing the ban.  but on the Free2play they will not even a talk about it.

It depends on how you pay to play.
    Don't let a F2P tag fool you,SWTOR is still a sub game.
I played quite a lot the past week.
Used a referral link and got a 7 day sub.
As soon as the sub ended I got hit by EAs way of "F2P".
My account is preferred status,I got quite a few stuff unlocked
since when the game launched, and still the best word I can use to
    describe the F2P/preferred version is-miserable.
Ok,you can play through the class stories and unlock all planets up
to lvl 50.But anything other than that is gated behind a pay wall.
And during your playtime every little thing that might make your life
a bit easier is locked in the cash shop.Even action bars are payed for.
F2P players literally have to pay for the air they breath in the game.
If you like SWTOR my advice is sub and have a good time, and engage
as least as possible with the cash shop.Otherwise, yes this is more like
    a MMOCashShop,and a very expensive one.

P.S Heads up-If you use a referral link, you'll get some free items that unlock
minor features for your characters. If you try to use them while the 7 day sub
period is active you'll get a "already unlocked" warning.
Do not delete those items. After the sub ends, those features will be locked again
and you'll be able to use the unlocks.

I would suggest subscribing and then only spending the cartel coins that come from that.  That is what I am doing and it has worked out perfectly.

I do hate the whole random content box thing. . it can really suck you in. . . so just pay $15 a month. . enjoy the game as intended and use what you get included.  Stick to that rule.

I would guess most of the large amounts of money they are making are from those boxes.  That stuff is ALL cosmetic pretty much.  No one needs it. . but you could get that rancor mount!. . . 0.7% chance. . but you could!  That mount doesn't change game play.

You don't really give us enough info about your ban to draw any meaningful conclusions.

edit: And even if you say you didn't try to sell you accounts, it's pretty much your word against theirs. There is no way we can know who is lying.

It's true that you sort of need to sub, or at least be a preferred level player, to play this game as it is meant to be played. Unless you saved up all the unlocks on another account (but you'd still need to sub at some point, there really is almost no way to get the money for the unlocks on a F2P account) or get supported by other players.

But other than that, getting money is pretty easy in this game. Decorating your home is just a luxury thing too, cool to do but not needed. I'm personally just focusing on getting all my entry level gear together and saving up money to buy crafted stuff / level up my own crafting.

So selling your own home to pay for your virtual one? Sorry but that's a massive hyperbole. The Coruscant and Dromund Kaas homes in specific are very easy to unlock completely. Prices on the fabrication kits will also continue to drop.

Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!

using the idea  about the fact that you should be carefull that you could  lose your home is an example to the extreme, now it was an eye catching fact  that swtor went f2p in that most of the people who have stayed on as monthly sub are now being given ads (spam like adware, spamware in the game by the means of the store).

what i did was take my game coins and added more to those coins by buying some then i took those game coins and turned 2 game accounts into full unlocked accounts.

what you have is 2 full accounts that you have to purchase dungeons and pvp unlocks, also you have a really bad game mail, can sent only 1 item at a time. and can not even send game money between accounts.

but i think they ban those accounts cause they was fully unlocked and that i also only login once in a while. and they knew i didn't need to purchase anything else from their store.

maybe they thought i was gonna to sell them.

but to ban the accounts without first seeing what i was going to do with them is what i call jumping the gun.

i brought the full game preordered  it before it released  and the coins they give to use when they went f2p was a payoff for us to be quiet.

still i sub and even told my friends how good a game swtor is.

    NO MORE!

i just feel used by a money crab company that care nothing about its customers.

I recently went back to SWTOR, and to be honest I really don't notice the cash shop. When I play I sub for a month or two so the cash shop based restrictions do not affect me. I use the free cash shop credits I get with my sub to buy bag space and other convenience items, I don't play dress up with my credits.

Like other posters here I am confused why people are upset with the cash shop. No one is forcing you to buy anything. If you like the game, support it, if not move on. F2P and the cash shop saved SWTOR.

  • TankYou88TankYou88 Member Posts: 310

Is English not your first language? Its kinda hard to understand what you are talking about.

Did you bot on any account? If Yes, Did you ever trade or group with the other account, be it 1 credit or 1 second? If you did then you have just Violated the TOS. They are able to ban both accounts because of this.

If you were not botting then what is it they are saying you did wrong? You only get banned if you were doing something wrong so you obviously did something wrong, big companies dont ban people who give them money.

  • MeleconMelecon Member UncommonPosts: 74

I am confused. Why would you spend all the Cartel Coins and credits on a F2P account and not even use it?

What was your end game? What were you trying to achieve? What were you doing in the weeks up to this point.

On a different tangent I have seen those types of emails before, they are from people that hire leveling services, buy gold (credits) and even try to sell their accounts.

There is a rare occasion that someone got your password and was doing the above mentioned activities, but then again those are very rare as these games and servers have a pretty robust logging systems to track everything.
