Idea for new Kickstarter - Dark Sun Online!!

burdock2burdock2 Member UncommonPosts: 420

We need Dark Sun Online!

A harsh, brutal sandbox open world with questing set on Athas, the world of AD&D Dark Sun campaign setting! It would work, and can utilise the 5th edition ruleset of Dungeons and Dragon.

I would support this in an instant, and if we can get someone who has some pull to lead it, I can imagine it would be very successful.

Heres hoping!

My brother worked on DSO as a developer, I'll get him on it.

    Bleh, 5th edition.

Its still based off the absolutely fucked up 4th edition that quite literally destroyed the game (and its place as the number one PnP RPG).

Now Dark Sun under the Pathfinder ruleset would be awesome.

And if you havent heard the vicious rumor that has been going around since ed. 3.5. Its that Wizards of the Coast will change the fundamentals of the game every 5 years. Thus forcing its fans to repurchase it core rule books and supplements to stay current.

Its has nothing to do with improving the game and has everything to do with milking its (dwindling) fan base of money. Yes, Im biased. I hold WoC in the same regard as Cryptic Studios (post CoH/V).

Still prefer the previous ones tbh, i don't know what their doing with AD&D these days, tbh i think they totally lost the plot, i certainly would not be interested in any game that used them as a basis anyway. image

I miss that game, there were quite a few talks of people bringing back the game but no one was successful, it was truly pioneer experience, it was the very first online MMORPG pvp game in 16bit, it was very unique game 1 of kind, never played anything like it again

    Define support...

As in, you will sell your house and give all the money to the kickstarter and live on the streets for 5 years... or support as in, you will play it once it actually is made.

    There is a difference.

Those who fall into the latter will never see this idea come to fruition.

Another blind kickstarter, yeah perfect idea,we need more  of those.
I'll pass,i want developers to be passionate about what they are designing,i don't like the way gaming looks more like a business than gaming.

I much prefer the realistic look i have in Atlas,trees/water/rocks all looking realistic.

I want to see well thought out systems, not just systems,i want the systems lead to be thinking....man that is the way i would want it to work and not like,ok you have 2 months to make something work then we have to move onto the Ui then the character sliders.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
