You do realize that end-game dungeons running and raiding is not the only option in MMORPGs? Right?
Dungeons are as easy as they can be. Like give keyboard to dog and cat easy.
Because ArcheAge is not about running dungeons at all, imagine that?
No pve raiding for bosses, you have some world bosses easier then the dungeons, for those , you might just give your keyboard to a fly or a moskito if you see one arround .
Again - raids and PvE bosses are NOT the focus of ArcheAge - I mean does EvE suck because it doesn't have PvE raids?
Its a farmville 3.0 , but you can kill others to steal their chickens and plants.
End game is a linear term implying a start and finish to something. ArcheAge is a non-linear game that doesn't actually have a finish.
Everything you can/will do at level 1 still has value at level 50. Wood, stone, iron are needed for nearly everything and can be obtained by anyone with the patience to collect them.
If you're playing solo, then your "end game" will be about a decade away with the amount of resources needed to build things. If you're in a guild, it will still take you quite a while; building a fleet of ships, designing and constructing castles, waging war on an enemy stronghold, etc.
i dont think AA can be summed up as one end game goal..
Please be aware that NA/EU version of AA.. is 1.2 patch.. while the koreans play on 1.7 patch..
this 1.7 patch is a MASSIVE amount of content..
concerning endgame.. do whatever you like..
Crafter/farmer/pve/pvp castle control/ fishing.. there is much to do in this game..
In EVE though you can be a trader, explorer, mission runner, wormhole space operation, null sec operation, manufacturer (even though its just queue up some jobs and then wait) which researcher is essetially the same thing, pirating, lore mission running or story arc, incursions, miner, that was pretty much all the content last I played EVE. Does Archage have comparable amount of content?
simply no... dont compare EVE to AA please.. eve is the big boss then..
But AA offers the same so called endgame content (open). with many paths to walkthrough
concerning content in AA it lacks a shitton of content.. but like i said and after playing both patches of the game.. this patch 1.7 will bring a BIG amount of content with it
The only thing is now.. how long will it take till they patch it? currently the patch on eu/na is 1.2 patch
1.2 is basicly the core of the game.. and while going to be patched it will expand especially with the 1.7 patch
Is a better comparison be Darkfall then? Trying to figure out if this is essetially a PvP or GTFO type of game. Sick and tired of your run of the mill themepark WoW clone MMOs and while I love the mechanics and features of EVE, it is in a nutshell a spreadsheet in space.
man o man.. both darkfall and eve are complete different games then AA
While darkfall is mmofps and eve is a big sandbox game..
AA is just a mmorpg with alot of things to do ingame.. some call it sandpark..
If your looking @ the pvp side of AA.. i think it has alot to offer. combat feels correct.. and that is coming from an darkfall 1.0 4 years vet

This guy obviously knows only wow like theme park games. He has no clue..
Well this is pretty much a themepark game. No full loot, no item decay, quest lines to max level?????? Um lol....... I dont think there is anything in this that is largely different from any other themepark. I havent played it yet, but it sounds like a bad version of Ulitma Online. I mean apart from the open world pvp, which all mmos have if you join a pvp server what makes it different.
I havent really heard anything, it has classes just with more options, which also means terrible balance issues. The housing is nothing special, just a cheap copy of ulitma online. It is a level quest grinder, with no pve end game content. The pvp sounds terrible one shot kills and such. With out full loot and durabilty where items brake its useless anyways. Which means the economy is going to be a train wreck, and be totally a buyers market after awhile, because very one will have everything, after all the new people stop playing.
I havent seen anything special about the item system, which is like SWG where all resources are random and special, as well as the items you make, which brake down after use and go out of the game. Making super rare items, and crafters of skill.
It is tab targeting from what I have seen and read, so that isnt anything special. Sounds like a average mmorpg with out the option of a pve server lol. We all see how well pvp servers do - one game eve online. As people are trying to compare this to eve, Acheage is far far far far far far from eve, i wouldent even put them in the same ball park. Its like call baseball the same as hockey.
I will play it all the same the 4th, and see for my self, but i highly doubt i will play it.

If you haven't played it yet and have obviously not the slightest clue about anything in the game, then why the fuck are you commenting at all?

When you argue that it is both a themepark and a bad version of Ultima Online, your credibility takes a nosedive.
Why are people comparing this game to Eve? Eve is a true sandbox with extreme risk-rewards and the character progression is almost endless. It will literally take YEARS to be able to fly the biggest ships and then you have to have the money for it, which is where the risk-reward comes in again because you need to take risks to earn the money to afford the biggest ships and this also ties into PvP because it is only in PvP where those massive capital ships are really useful and it is mostly in the lawless PvP areas you can reap the biggest rewards.
ArcheAge, from what I have seen and heard, is just a glorified ThemePark. The risk-reward is low and the PvP is more akin to ThemePark PvP where you flip controlled areas back and forth. It has some sandbox elements but the character progression is more linear than in Eve and definitely not take years to max out your character.
Will the game be fun? Yeah, probably more fun than most ThemeParks. But is it a proper sandbox like Eve? No, definitely not.

There is a new concept, its called imagination, you can read stuff, and see pictures. By doing this you can make a good guess as how something is going to be. Not perfect, but a close guess. I know this is prolly new to you, so dont try to take on to much stuff with that knowledge, you could over load your brain.

When there is an "and" connecting two statements it means both must be taken into account. When it says "or" then you can use either one.

Nope. Imagination is just fantasy you cooked up in your brain.
I am a firm believer that you will never know if something is good until you try it for yourself. That is years of experience talking there. Thinking you know all about something without even trying it, is a good way to miss out on many good things in life.
Try it, you might like it as the saying goes.
FFA Nonconsentual Full Loot PvP ...You know you want it!!

LOL @ Yamota
Just take the word Eve out and substitute AA.....take the word fly out and substitute sail and you have hit the nail right on the head .
As far as your description of Archeage you must have mushroom syndrome ....someone is keeping you in the dark and feeding you shit because you aren't even in the right ballpark here ....perhaps you have mixed Archeage up with some other game??
The OP has a point though. Some of you are saying what AA is not, and some of you are saying what AA has at max level.
Dungeons (?)
Farming
Crafting
Territorial Control via Open World PvP
That's pretty much it.
This is what happens when players want a sandbox. You get an empty virtual world.
To be fair though, it's up to the developers to provide the tools for content creation, and XL Games hasn't done this, which makes AA even worse as a "sandbox", which is really just a non-linear environment (if you accept that quest-hubs can be avoided).

It takes "years to max out your character" in Eve because skill progression is gated by real time. That's not exactly "sandboxy".
Try getting max gear in ArcheAge, pretty much no one has it. And in 1.7 in Korea the skill caps are at 180k. Good luck getting either casually.
"Hardcoreness" doesn't make you more sandboxy anyway.
AA does not focus on "themepark PVP". Yes there is an arena and a periodic zone battle tacked on, but the heart of AA PVP is open world piracy and sieges of CUSTOM castles (not prebuilt). And the rewards for controlling a territory are a heck of a lot greater than Plaguelands in WoW.
The OP has a point though. Some of you are saying what AA is not, and some of you are saying what AA has at max level.
Dungeons (?)
Farming

Ya if all it has is PVE, PVP, crafting, territory control, and an open world.. the game must be terrible.
It sounds like they are missing a lot of key features.
If people oversimplify Archeage like they're some ignorant lummox it will look terrible.
There's a bunch of meta game that goes with Farming, Crafting, Commerce, & Territorial Control. Dungeons and some deep rich story are not the focus of Archeage. Don't play expecting it, nor come into it trying to change it into that. It is what it is. Is it perfect? HELL NO. It's a great step in the right direction and I hope a Western dev takes notes. This game is about player driven content. Land ownership, commerce, supply/demand, rivalries and territorial power struggle between continents with pirates/mercenaries thrown into the mix. You are emotionally invested into your gameplay. As a guy who wasn't into "OWPVP" much, I find it pretty fun, and there's still a ton of stuff I haven't done.
"As far as the forum code of conduct, I would think it's a bit outdated and in need of a refre *CLOSED*"
The OP has a point though. Some of you are saying what AA is not, and some of you are saying what AA has at max level.

It sounds like they are missing a lot of key features.
It doesn't matter if it's terrible or not. The point is, are those key features sufficient enough for retention at max level? Darkfall also has these key features, but it's a niche game just like EvE is.
Open-World PvP is never as popular as many make it out to be, and it will never be enough to keep people interested.
Raids, Collections (mounts & minis), Achievements, PvP (instanced/competitive/tournament), overall Gear Progression, World Bosses, etc.. These, and other things, are what keep people at "end-game". I'm not sure if AA has some of these, but Open-World PvP seems to be the main attraction.

AA has all of those except raid progression, which is admittedly a big thing.
But I wouldn't call AA end game "Open World PVP". The "open world PVP" is simply a consequence of trade running, not a goal in itself. The other kind of end game large scale PVP is territorial control, which isn't really "open world" in that it is tied to one castle area at a time.
As a PVEer myself in past games, I wouldn't sell ArcheAge PVP short, it's got an organic appeal that battlegrounds and arenas never had for me in themeparks.
The OP has a point though. Some of you are saying what AA is not, and some of you are saying what AA has at max level.

Sure, "key features" sounds great but if you look at it a bit.
Dungeons/ world bosses can be nice but might get boring after doing it for the 50th time.
Farming and crafting is endgame because it takes a whiiiile to get all the LP. Then to craft the highest tier you need luck otherwise you craft the same thing over and over and over again. That might be called end game.
Afaik territory control is done by siege battles which sounds awesome. I was really looking forward to a 24/7 fight for world domination Then I read that it is 70vs 70, once a month, for 2(?) hours. Doesn't sound like the open world pvp sandbox I was expecting.
So to sum it up: you end up with a lot of farming and crafting to get a set of the highest tier armor/weapon because otherwise if your opponent has a one tier higher set than you, you loose. Then there is useless PvP because you just kill people but cant do anything to make your faction win/control the world. You can annoy others by stealing their stuff but other than "Ha Ha! You just lost x Gold/LP" it has no consequence.

Coming in patch 1.7 (well at least in the korean version):
ArcheAge | Looking Forward - Korean Patch 1.7 | MMORPG
The end game in AA is unite your faction and dominate the enemy faction.
Your guild will try to build a castle in Auroria and deal with the siege battles.
But ... in AA the endgame already starts at lvl1.
Whatever is in your head, is the endgame.
Who are you anyways ? ... Make your call an endgame, or your skill, your house, your life in game.
I think your virtual existance is the endgame.
Lets have a great birthday on launch
Then Eve is a themepark too.
You need to throw your useless one-game definition of "sandbox" out.
We get it, you like Eve. We don't need an entire genre description devoted just to Eve.
#WoWdoesnt

let me add something to it..
AA is not an pvp game.. its core build around carebear stuff.. but that doesn't mean its bad game.
Its core is build upon trading and playing farmville but.. AA offers also alot pvp and pve wise..
some companies do it the other way around.. like for example pahtfinder online( game in make). This game is based on its core design around pvp..
Simmilair games would be daoc and warhammer online.. those games also have core design build around pvp.
But like i said AA has alot to offer.. there is alot of shit ingame..
Building up a char for example.. has so many options and so many combinations.. that you will always find something that will suit your likings..
EU/NA version lacks content tho..(already mentioned above posts).. they will launch the game without alot stuff..
I do hope they patch fast to 1.7 patch.. because this will be a MAJOR content update.
