This design has never made any sense to me. The longer you exist in a world, the more expereinced you are. You should never be penalized by taking that away. I can see losing armor, or getting a little "sick" or something, but taking away experience from an "experienced" player is just a poor design.
Down with xp loss!

This topic is so out of place in this section.
There was a death penalty debate/discussion/thread about two weeks ago from the weekly debate question that mmorpg.com started doing. You may want to post your comments in there.
That is an extremely narrow view of the whole situation. Think about the game without an exp loss... People would go up to incredibly hard mobs and get slaughtered and try time and time again. DOn't you think people should be afraid to die in a MMO. It just make sense.
Take away a penalty and you take away an important part of the game. That's one thing I really didn't like about WoW.
XP loses equivalent to 1 hour of non-stop grinding is way too much.
lol not losing xp with death would make death meaningless period.
the loss of exp is rather random
u can lose no exp or lots
personally the most ive lost is 11% in 1 death at level 32 and that takes a good bit of hunrting to get back. also remember you donot drop items ect when you die. i think losing exp on death is fine so long as you cant de-level
