It is just handful self-delusioned forum posters that falsely believe they are entitled to dictate what revenue model a game company should use or not. A minority you can completely ignore.

That is what I said - most people do not care, they have no issue with lockboxes at all.
The minority crying about lockboxes, P2W or w/e can be ignored, they are a non-factor.
I see TONS of people say PWE is the devil for these sorts of things. MANY a PWE game I've seen people write off in the forums because "Oh, it's PWE. That means it's just more P2W shovelware", etc
So to answer your question, there is no double standard that I can see. People hate PWE too for these stupid lockboxes.
I don't see anyone mention EA/Bioware though. But honestly it's semi-rare for people to mention SWG at all for some reason so dunno about that.
None of it matters though. There's a reason why businesses keep releasing these random lockboxes in F2P MMOs. It's just particularly more vile when they do it in an MMO that already charges a subscription (...and a $150 alpha access), especially after promising they wouldn't. But it's not like that's never happened before either.

I am not even against the locboxes since i play SWTOR, Neverwinetr and STO.

Free pass? Right now the forums are littered with angry whiners taking every pop-shot they can at Trion to make them feel as terrible as possible. It's honestly shameful that people truly act this way.

Minority, hell - if 95% of the playerbase was crying about lockboxes, and the remaining 5% bought enough of them to keep the lights on, ignoring them is still, technically, the right move. PR-wise, it's terrible, but financially sound.
The double-standard will stop once/if the prey vanishes because they refuse to play in an "unfair" box.
Yes, Trion is an evil company... they kick pink bunnies for fun... they went out of their way to bring this title to the West, they personally went to your house and threatened you beloved pet hamster Petey with bodily harm if you did not download the game and get fully decked out within a week of release. Oh the horror of it all. It's like a gaming Mafia.
I don't think ANYONE likes lockboxes in MMOs. Okay maybe a very small number of people. I would rather pay $20 for an item than a 1% chance per 20 cents. In the former, I am going to get my item. In the latter, I can never be sure, and after I have spent $60 and am angry, I am just as far away from getting the item as when I started.
The other thing is, any slot machine can be rigged. You can set a $100 value on an item and nobody will buy it, but if you lockbox it and give a 0.1% chance per 10 cents, some people will win and advertise for you. People will spend more money than they ever would otherwise and probably not even get the item.
Companies use lockboxes because they work, not because people like them.
I am surprised companies do not use insured lockboxes more often. You are guaranteed to get the item after buying 100 things say if you failed to get it through the random process.

Because the whales (read gamblers) who bought 100 lockboxes would probably carry on to 200.
Yea, insurance is basically cutting off your revenue stream. Only current MMO I know of that does it is Marvel Heroes and that's honestly probably because the producers of that game are probably Marvel fans first and foremost instead of business people (only F2P I can think of with a "nicer" cash shop in terms of not being a greedy jerk is Path of Exile).

Not even financially sound it is, unless you want a quick buck and shortly after see your business fail, no business ever should ignore complaints from it's customers if it wants to survive on the long run, it's business 101.
Trion is not getting a free pass, the forums are in flames now, but the lockboxes aren't really that of a big deal in comparison to the LP pots, the boxes are way too expensive.

Ignoring complaints from the customers that only make up like, 10% of your revenue is fine if it ensures that other 90% coming from those whale players that insist on spending thousands upon thousands on one game remains big, fat, and plump. Which, in most P2W F2P's cases, it does. Or at least does so long enough for you to have a hat (hell, a hat CLOSET) t made of money by the time closing day arrives.

What lockboxes are you talking about for PWE and Bioware?

Avatars are people too
...oh, I completely misread the OP. THought the OP was saying people were giving PWE a free pass.
....really, I see tons of negative reaction towards Trion as well on these and the official forums.
Likewise.
I would also say that I hate these gambling boxes in any game I play; but as long as people continue buying them they won't be going anywhere.
