Is it possible to not get land ?

JeffSpicoliJeffSpicoli Member EpicPosts: 2,849

The draw of this game for me is becoming a trader & owning a farm & or house. Wondering if it is even possible that land could be unavailable to build on when i hit the appropriate lvl. I like to take my time when playing MMO's and rushing through content or power lvling doesnt really suit my playstyle.

Could anyone explain how the building apsect of archage works and why i should rush to get land or why i dont need to rush to get land. Thx in advance.

Given my experience in closed and open betas, I would say yes, it's possible that a server can run out of land.

In closed beta, I was on the newest server and had to go to zones far outside my preference to find a spot to place my thatched farmhouse. To be fair, all of the areas specifically zoned for that size house were not open during closed beta, so that impacted how much space was available.

In open beta on the highest populated server, I had to do quite a lot of searching to find a single spot where I could plunk down my small farm. And after looking in every uncontested zone, I never was able to find a place to put my small house.

During the "land rush" in headstart, organized guilds will be looking to claim as much land as possible for guild farms. And players who were in alpha and beta who know all the ins and outs will be rushing through quests for the small and large farms to use as placeholders, and/or for enough gilda to acquire houses.

I recommend you roll on a less populated server or hook up with a good guild to help you get what you need.

The good news regarding appropriate level is that you can pretty much build a house at any level in the game, it just costs a certain currency called Gilda stars. These come from a range of activities, however the main storyline gives new players a boost with their first 50(ish). For a small new house you will need 15 Gilda which you can easily get within an hour if you follow the main storyline.

Now this is when it starts getting more tricky, with the head start coming up fast it seems to be the general plan for a number of guilds is to run through the first couple of storyline quests and put down their small farm, or their house blueprint in order to reserve the land for themselves. Some are even going so far as to create alts just so that they can reserve land. This is what the big rush will be for at the start of release.

Since you're after the trader/farmer aspect of the game, I would suggest that you go through the main storyline, get your small farm and put it down somewhere in the safe areas where there is no PvP as fast as possible, since these are the areas that people are going to fill up first. Else you're stuck in a PvP zone which can make times tough XD.

TLDR: 1-2 hours to get a farm/house blueprint, whack it down somewhere, then do whatever ya want.

The Alpha server had no land available what so ever.  Everyone was a patron so everything got built up.  You could still get land, though, if you ran around and looked for unpaid farms and then logged in at the right time to grab it.  Unforunately, you'd often  have to compete with everyone else who had found that farm and wanted it.

Yes in the beginning but as players level up it makes more and more sense to grab better higher zone level land.  This frees up the lower zone level land.

Land size plays another effect as players are able to lease land the own to other players.  Note when I played the alpha at around level 38 I owned mid sized land and shared it with a friend so we could both build and farm splitting the cost.  In some areas splitting cost is highly recommended.

    The short answer is "no".

There's only so much land the patrons can pay taxes on.

In beta there were still lots of land available, even in some rather desirable locations.

In alpha, land was hotly contested, but you have to factor in that everyone was patron AND everyone had double labor regen.

I don't have the numbers, but if F2P players and Patrons are roughly even, there's no way land will run out.

That said, obviously the best locations will be grabbed first.  But as a trader, 95% of the value iof farm space is just having somewhere you can plant stuff without fear of theft.
