Should I buy a founder's pack or wait for launch?

fivorothfivoroth Member UncommonPosts: 3,916

I am currently very keen to play this game. I have only played it for a bit during one of the beta events and I really liked it. I was thinking of maybe buying the silver pack so I can start playing now but is it worth it? I am not quite sure if the stuff that you get in the pack are worth £37 ($60?). Bare in mind I will definitely want to be a subscriber.

So basically are the stuff in the silver pack worth the price or am I going to be paying quite a bit of a premium for my impatience?

Being a founder myself. You've waited this long, what's four more days?  I'd wait, all the stuff is fluff.

I am in the same exact boat as you.......but i chose not to spend the 50 dollars....I can wait 4 days, no matter how bad i want to play. Then i will just become patron status. just my 2 cents

I was going to post some snippy statement like "Buy now; Hell buy it twice. Instead of waiting the 4 days, do as the "have to have it now" bunch would, Buy Now-Now-Now!"

then i realized; it's the beginning of the weekend (assuming that you have it off), and if you really like it AND get perks, why not. In retrospect, you're actually in a tough spot. Prime playing time/Perks vs. waiting... I don't think I could resist.

Unless you really want the things they offer I would say wait.  The queue times are about 1.5 hours right now.  Starting day may be just as bad, but hey at least you didn't pay to wait.

Just wait, play some other games over the 4 days.

    Playing - FFXIV,  ESO
Played - FFXI, WoW, Lineage 2, Guild Wars, Aion, SWToR, LotRO, GW2, TERA, Rift, ArcheAge, TSW

WAIT!!! Play 4 free in 4 days and see if you like the game first, I dropped 50 bucks to play early and i am finding this to be one of the worst lvling expierances i have ever had in any mmo, game feels so dated. IM hoping the game opens up and starts delivering the sandbox exp i thought i was going to be expierancing.

If you want to play this game 'properly', you need to subscribe anyway.. you also need to RUSH for the housing plots (which you can't get without subscribing) before they are all gone and then sold for stupidly high prices at endgame.

Get the founders pack right now if you know you already like it and plan on playing seriously.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

This is DEFINITELY NOT a sandbox game. Also OW PVP after LVL 30 in case you didn't know. Save your money!

Being a founder as of this afternoon and totally regretting it I would just wait until next weeks launch. So far its just as bad as that FF14 launch, huge queues, disconnects right as your within 20 positions of queue only to start again in the 2000's range with 2 hour wait times is just not worth it. Not enough servers, and again paid money for a head start that I will not see the full 4 days of now that I am calling it a night after plenty of disconnects and bumps back down the queue ladder.

I bought the founders pack when it first came out and I have to be honest I have uninstalled the game and wont ever bother logging in again it's nothing special and imo it's way to grindy and not a sand box game at all. In fact I had very little fun playing this game at all and it's made me realise not to waste money on founders packs ever again as I'm only going to be disappointed like I was with this game.

So don't waste your money and wait for it to open up in a few days time!

AA is the best experience i had in last 10y or so, but that me.

Imo the silver pack is a bad business, the gold one seems a good one if you are hable to spend that money.

But honest? If you wait until here, just wait more 3 days.

Founders packs are a waste of money in any MMO. 4 days headstart is not worth it, usually they just play through bugs, lag and problems and the ones that start 4 days later have a smoother start anyway.

Its a free to play game, play free... only impatient people buy those things and always regret them, especially in this game since it requires them to keep paying to maintain patron and all the benefits.

Given that I have played it... go back to 1990 and you might have something worth playing. This is about the same level of technological advancement. For gods sakes, the npc's lips barely move when speaking in the half formed way that the games back then did. It's embarassing.

Just like in RL each one of us give importance to diferent things, for you seems the movement of a npc lips is important in a mmorpg and define if the game worth play or not. Fair enouph.

for others all that is a minor feature and the most important is the community deep that a game deliver.

You realise it would look like one of those old bruce lee kung fu movies where the actors lips are moving out of synch because they are really speaking Chinese with English voice over.

My guild had a pretty big following and I wanted to try it out. Should I spend $50 instead of waiting. No. I never listen to reason though so I bit the bullet.

After filling in my credit information I get sent to an authentication code screen but I never get the emails with the code. Resent a few times and still no go.

I'd hold off at this point if I were you. I did not get an invoice email but I don't know if Trion does that, so at this point I have no idea if I was charged heh.

I have decided to wait. I found out that the 3k credits are worth £11. That means that if the sub js £10 them for £21 I can get pretty much the same deal. I can spend the extra £15 on another month sub.
