Mine will be old and in different states then they are in today, so not much of a help
1) City of Heroes (dead) 2) World of Warcraft (pre-Cata) 3) EverQuest 1 is not too bad, these days. Much easier than it used to be.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse. - FARGIN_WAR

By far #1 FFXI but then for the rest of the copy cat linear questing games i'd say #2 is EQ2 and #3 is Vanguard.I did find AOC to be close for a while but it started to look more like a single player design and never gave me the feeling of anything done really well just always average.

In order of preference
1- Guild Wars 2
2- WoW
3- FFXIV
If The Secret World had had better character animations and combat it would have been in my top three.

1. DAOC
2. FFXI
3. WoW, EQ2, and FFXIV tied.
3. LOTRO
2. SWTOR
3. This may be stretching the definition of an MMORPG a bit, but MARVEL HEROES
If we remove the "RPG" ending and just make it MMOs in general, my list changes drastically

1. DAOC (first mmo)
2. shadowbane
3. WoW (heavy modded uowow server - ffa pvp/housing/playerlooting)
1.Lord of the rings online (very hard PVE , i am not talking about the grid , but about the tier 2 raids)
2.Rift ( you cant imagine rift's end game on pve.it has all i want.you can play it for 2 months and see it)
3. WoW ( good pve , not so good as the above , but still very good.hate the nerfing on theb oss and for this i left , also?arena pvp its awesome)
-i play rift right now!
1 - GW2
2 - WoW up to WotLK
3 - TSW
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
1. Guild Wars 2
2. WoW
3. Rift
1 - EQ Still the best PvE game I've played, where risk equated to reward and death was something you avoided.
2 - DAoC Best PvP by far in any MMO I've played.
3 - EVE or SWG Pre CU Both great in their own ways with some excellent non combat options.
All have the same thing in common, they weren't so much games as worlds you lived in, which is something sadly lacking in modern MMO's.

1. SWTOR
2. TSW
3. EQ2

WoW
although I haven't played much since first expansion came out.
Are we counting ARPGS? If so,
Marvel Heroes
Diablo 2
If no ARPGs,
Neverwinter
DCUO
Honorable mention to SWTOR and Champions Online. I have also played a little LOTRO, DDO, AoC, Wildstar, Diablo 3, but none of those really grabbed me.
1. Dark Age Of Camelot
2. Ultima Online
3. Lord Of The Rings Online
GW2
WoW (pre Cata WoW, not the garbage it turned into)
LotRO or Rift
1. Diablo 3
2. Marvel Heroes
3. WoW
If I go by hours spent in game, which for me usually determines how much I like a game, then my top 3 would be:
1) Planetside 1
2) SWG
3) WoW
"If I offended you, you needed it" -Corey Taylor
1. Ultima Online pre Trammel Renaissance build. Perfect.
2. Wow Burning Crusade. As good as that game got.
3. RIFT for the few weeks after beta ended when the game worked.
1. Wow (pre-Cata, of course)
2. LOTRO
3. Rift/SWTOR
*Wildstar has the ability to move into the Top 3 at some point depending on content updates.
1. Can't decide, too many to choose from (seriously),
2. See #1,
3. See #1.

Rather than stating which I think may be the 'best', I'll just state the ones I had the most fun with and got the best memories out of:
1. SWG
2. Guild Wars 2
3. Elder Scrolls Online
Truthfully though, nothing has come close to the fun I had in SWG.
BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.
Don't like the number three so here is five in no particular order:
WoW - the best out of the theme parks
Tera - the best action combat in an mmo
Fallen Earth - best sandboxy mmo that is still accesible to idiots like me
The Secret World - the best story, setting, characters on any mmo out there
SWTOR - Star Wars, interesting stories, fun classes
1# GW2
2# Warhammer online (dead)
3# Rift
1. SWG (dead)
2. Anarchy Online (dated now)
3. Guild Wars 1 (dated now)
Guild Wars 2 is not my cup of tea, but is a good game when trying to look at it objectively. So is WoW.
I am running a modded Minecraft server atm for friends. There is no MMO that we are interested in atm.
