So, I played this game from launch and hit max level so that I could jump into the PvE because for a game like this I thought it would be great. Well unfortunately it fell pretty flat in regards of how much PvE content there actually was.
Has it gotten better? I am talking about end endgame as well such as dungeons/raids/trials.
I played through the first trials and thought they were a snoozefest in terms of difficulty. Are they better now? Also is there plans for any new ones in the near future?

Housing, crafting, mini games, achievement hunting. That's all I can think of. ESO has tons of achievements to hunt.
It would be nice if they added housing and some kind of mini games. But yeah, you're right. It feels like endgame is just a word for "ran out of content".

If you want end game content then you should try Final Fantasy 14 ARR. it has a host of things to do after you hit 50.

The hard mode dungeons have different bosses from normal and the difficulty ramps up too and there are a lot of different mechanics that keep you on your toes.
In fact, that's kinda what "endgame" technically means, and where it's derived from.
"Endgame" = "You've reached the END of the GAME. So, now what?" = "Ran out of content", really.
(going from there, one can say a GOOD end game is "Something that keeps you playing the game and having fun DESPITE the game itself running out of content"). FUN repeatable content (typically raids), housing, PvP, roleplaying, achievements, mini-games, and in some cases socializing... yea, things like that are attempts at a "good" (something that keeps you in the game despite the game running out of content) end-game. Whether or not they succeed depends on several factors.
