Hey fellas, So i do have alpha access to this game and before I delve into it fully I got some questions. I'd like to point out before this that i really really do enjoy games like minecraft, terraria, starbound, edge of space, and games of those ilk.I can see myself really getting behind this game and enjoying it when its finished. THe question I have  is whether i should wait until its finished or delve in. A similar game I played early acess on and it just burned me bad was Starbound and im just wanting to avoid that experience of feature creep and nothing getting done while i play the same unfinished part over and over.

Will Trove have textures on its world blocks like minecraft? I really can't get behind the solid flat color of the blocks without any kind of art on them. Like one solid green texture for grass is just like hard to get into for me. Will the textures be added or is this how the game is always going to be even after release?

How is the content so far for multiplayer with friends? Will i run out of content in like 2 weeks or is it a little further along than that. I dont mind waiting for the full release i just dont want to leap frog such minor content updates while playing and then getting bored of the game before its actually fully launched which is what i ran into with starbound. It had such tiny updates that I quickly consumed the content then had really nothing left to do and the content introduction couldn't keep pace.

As far as textures goes, who knows. There are textured blocks throughout the world, but I haven't seen anything that's been usable in building. Although, I haven't logged in for about a month so things could've changed.

As far as content goes. The game plays a lot like an ARPG. Maps are generated for appropriate level ranges and there's tons of dungeons and bosses scattered throughout. Loot is random as well, so the excitement of getting that awesome weapon is real. It can get a little repetitive over time, but that's the nature of the beast.

I would wait until beta kicks off Sept 25th  because alpha will be wiped, so no sense in doing anything so close to wipe.

After 25th - no more wipes period according to devs.

While anything is possible - Trove has had a very different development process than Starbound or Cubeword and other games where devs just gave up, as since November of last year the game has been getting 2 updates per week!

Also the active involvment of devs posting on reddit forums is a huge plus.

Again IMO the chance of Trion abandoning Trove are slim to none.

About 2 months ago on a Friday twitch stream the devs showed off textured blocks - stone and wood. They said its an idea they are playing with, they have not confirmed anything yet. I would expect to see textures come in after beta launch.

Depends on how you play the game - as a sandbox builder game - you won't run out of content ever, as clubworlds are huge and you can build massive projects if you want to.

As an adventure game its closer to Diablo meets Minecraft meets Terraria with larger groups of players in the world.

But worlds, dungeons, lairs are procedurally generated also loot has random stats like Diablo. To get best gear in game takes a LOT of loot drops like in Diablo.

Ive been playing Trove casually for almost a year now - still having a blast, but I love Minecraft, and Diablo and Terraria/Starbound so Trove is a natural fit for me.

My advice - wait for 9 more days for beta to launch.

I've been sitting on alpha for quite sometime and finally downloaded this morning. Thanks DMKano for all the info and about the alpha ending. Going to jump in today to get a feel for it, but at least I know I only have 9 days until the wipe. I hadn't checked out the Trove forums yet.
