game review of release so far... end of day 5.

So I have now been playing ArcheAge from the evening of 9-12-14.

Was able to create a character and play for a while and then got kicked.

Logged in again and authentication error.

Then my pc ran through the introduction video loop until I cancelled it and restarted again.

Finally play for a good while and get my mount and small farm.

I decide to power through the questing to get the guilda for my farmhouse. Since I was behind half the people playing I ended up getting the farmhouse after all farmhouse areas were taken.  I joined a big guild and there are several people that already own several locations.

So I fly....and I fly. Over basically all of my continent and touch down a few spots that are almost enough but not quite. I then get in my row boat and head out to sea. I found a few islands but they to were filled complete with housing. I didn't try the other continent yet....but this is crazy that everyone was able to log in and get that much guilda so fast and find places even in the lvl 50 areas within the first 3 days of headstart. I am not a power gamer, but I logged alot of hours in the attempt to get my spot and now.....nothing. Maybe people will abandon some property and not pay tax and then I will be able to place.

So next up is server que.... any time I wanted to log in I would have to wait in a que. This seems like they overbooked servers. Why would they do this? Should have cloud server tech by now so more people can log in. Sitting behind 500+ people many times is not what I thought I was signing up for.

So anyhow I decided to place my small starter farm and grind quests and have adventures. So far I got to lvl 29 and have been having fun. I did a few trade pack quests and now have a donkey and a pet. I found some hidden farms and some good spots for gathering stuff. The game is really quite fun. I am hopeful with all the areas that are not open on the continents that in the future there will be openings. I would really enjoy being able to place my farmhouse somewhere.

PvP is fast and fun. I gathered with my guild and went out on a clipper and control F (pvp flagged) to kill some people trying to take tradepacks places in the water. Was alot of fun.

Over all I am extremely impressed with the game design. Not impressed with how Trion chose to handle the headstart. I believe they had all the data needed to decide how many servers to start up with.

I doubt there will be some small gesture from Trion to smooth the rough launch but I can hope. Either provide a 2 week free status or perhaps allow for server transfers...whatever option they choose would go a good distance to smooth things a bit.

Hope XL games releases more housing area or perhaps Trion can pressure them to do that. I feel like a non-patron since I can't place my house due to no roooom.
