Rift: Minions Collection Mini-Game to Arrive with Nightmare Tide

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

Trion Worlds has announced a new mini-game that will be making its way into Rift when the Nightmare Tide expansion goes live later this Fall. Called "Minions", the game involves collecting minion cards and adventure cards. Players send minions on adventures and, if completed successfully, players will reap the rewards.

Your minions can return with crafting materials, Dimension items, artifacts, or Notoriety. In other words, you can use minions to do some of your harvesting, help you earn rep, and find free Dimension items for you. If you send a minion on an adventure that provides loot, it will always return with at least one piece of loot. Be aware that the character you have logged in when you claim an adventure’s reward can affect what loot you bring in!

Another almost-but-not-quite original idea from Trion.

Something like this has existed in games before. Even so, it's still rare, but a welcome addition, so long as what they bring back makes it worthwhile. (One of the games, you had to pay the hirelings to do it while you are offline, but what they brought back was usually not even worth half of what it cost.)

Lost my mind, now trying to lose yours...

From the looks of it, having watched a youtube by seatin on it, it is nothing like WoW's pet system, and WoW's Garrison system is nothing like Rift's Dimension.

The Garrison system will actually have some in game benefits to it, but less customisation, whilst Rift's Dimensions have wonderful customisation ... but except for training dummies have next to no practical use in the game.

Either way, I like both games, and as Rift is F2P with a little B2P thrown in to get access to additional souls and now equipment slots, which can be earned in game to, plus the REX system similar to EvE's plex system, I can still play that along side WoW when i choose to, though the pricing of Rifts CE's seems well off, they need to include a decent chunk of patron time to make them worthwhile, but each to their own.
