I wonder how Trion is controling the faction sizes, what if in one server west has 10k players and east only 4k? how can they balance? could it be a problem?

That the big problem with any faction system most people will join the most op side, pretty much there no fix on this unless they lock the one faction untill it's filled and that's a big problem if your trying get a friend to play with you. Or a raiding/pvp guild trying to get people to come to the game and join there side or guild.
I believe in Aion they did that, they locked one faction to balance, but the problem here is that on western civilizations the east side of Archeage is not very apealling.. who wants to play an asian character? (not racist here though) sure east side must be popular on Korea and west not

This.
The furries are not so numerous yet that they can sway the population. So whichever side has the most sex appeal is the side that claims the bulk of "mains". I can't necessarily prove that hypothesis, and I'd be interested to see some data.
I play West because I like the races better and of course the over all aesthetic is more familiar but I will say that the east has some of the prettiest zones. Lutesong Harbor and Hasla was are simply jaw dropping and I haven't even done much exploring over there.
With the ability to kill your own faction, side isn't much of an issue really. I've been attacked by more greens (gone purple), than i've even seen reds.

Clever things.
judging by this poll sample seems this game might be very unbalanced... =O
is it possible that in every server 75% of population is on west faction =O?
was this game made on the west (usa or europe) and it could be even more awesome
(maybe Arenanet will make 'Guild Wars 3' sandpark game =P)
well ya thats nice, but you play on a headstart server?
All die, so die well.

Yeah AION started the Asmodian Initiative with patch 2.5 in 2011:

But it seems it never really recovered (as far as balancing the factions) the last update was January of this year.

I wonder if XL Games will do something similar, unless player-made factions make a dent.
There was one... just one article in June 2013 that stated this, but that topic never resurfaced, unless someone has something more recent.
