I didnt manage to play a lot because of the queues. But what I gathered so far is the pretty standard MMO gameplay with quests and bit old fashion combat system.
Now people say that the game opens up to sandbox elements after lvl 30. With lot of house building crafting trading and area control.
But I see that in order to own housing plot or farm you need to be subscriber, right ?
And in order to craft you need to buy labor potions (or grind heavily)
So non paying customer is pretty much out of "sandbox" elements?
What is than left for free player ?
Standard questing themepark stuff ? To be honest , some other games do that part better.
So what say you ?

Benefits of F2P Gaming:
"How do I make money as a F2P player?"

Evil:
"How do I gear up as a F2P player?"
Do quests! Quests will gear you up all the way to level 50. Here's a list of quests that will give you end game gear: http://www.reddit.com/r/archeage/comments/2d9x6g/starter_gear_for_a_level_50/[1]
Do dungeons! Dungeons can give you weapon, armor, and accessories!
Craft weapons, armors, and accessories! As a F2P player, you'll have to be sneaky with where you plant your plants for the materials.
General Tips:
Feel free to ask questions about anything and I'll do my best to answer them!
[Edit]
More tips:
In order to sell in the Auction House as a F2P player, you'll need to buy an Auction License from other players, from the AH, or from the Cash Shop. You only need to buy it once and it's fairly cheap so it's not a big problem at all!
Patrons who didn't get land as well as F2P players will have to do secret farming in order to get resources on their own which means there will always be secret farms to discover and steal!
Just because you don't own land doesn't mean you can't farm! If you can find a spot that's very hidden you can start your own secret farm by simply planting your plants in the ground. Other people can steal it though so make sure it's very hidden! I would suggest planting crops that have a short harvest time so it's not out in the open for very long.
Always use Evenstones (from General Merchant) on gear that you don't need anymore! It'll save you in cost once you start crafting your gear!
F2P user have access to public farms and ranches, which can be used to grow limited amounts of either crops, trees and livestock. I think the limit is 10 crops, 5 trees, 5 livestock and you have to find the appropriate public farm. There is also limited space on them, but generally you will be able to fit your maximum quantity.

As a F2P you got PvP, dungeon runs and gethering rare rendom spawn resources.
You won`t have enough LP to craft or do trade runs, sufficient to genarate an income.

That mad me chuckle, making it sound like it's a mundane chore.
it is in a way. thats why lots of farm land, i would say about 60-70% will change hands after first 3 month.

If i were a f2p player, I would probably not like the game. You can't own a house or a farm, you can't meaningfully craft due to labour regen being so low. So yeah you are pretty much left with the boring questing.
As a subscriber, labour regen works really well. You get loads of labour points and you can literally avoid questing all together if you wanted. As a f2p, you will always not have enough labour.
Long story short, if you are a f2p player, I would find something else to play. There are way better f2p games.
Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.
F2P players can allways work in team with others (guilds) and theres allways patrons to give a hand so some objectives that require LP can be reach it sooner, like take the donkey and build a boat, then you can make trade runs for profit and buy the patron status on AH, is extremely cheap atm.
Edit: If you are a craftign fan, be a crafter as a patron is allready a chalenge, cant imagine someone trying to be a crafter as a f2p.
― Terry Pratchett, Making Money
Well, as a crafting fan I doubt that you will enjoy ArcheAge that much without spending any sort of money whatsoever.
The two F2P MMORPGs I'd recommend for people who like to craft are Rift and Fallen Earth.
The Rift crafting system offers the usual: butchering, foraging and mining as gathering professions, apothecary, armorsmith, weaponsmith, artificer, outfitter, runecrafter and weaponsmith as actual crafting professions, and fishing and survival as additional ones. I don't think you're restricted in crafting if you play f2p.
Fallen Earth offers: armorcraft, ballistics, construction, cooking, geology, medicine, mutagenics, nature, scavenging, science and weaponry. You can learn any and all crafting skills at once, it's just a matter of how dedicated you are, and nearly all items in the game are crafted. I think the F2P restriction is that you can craft only three items at once. You can craft while being offline and questing.
Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)
