The year was 1988. I was 12 years old and I lived on my Commodore 64. A handful of groundbreaking games were released that year, including King's Quest IV, Bard's Tale III, Ultima V, and Pool of Radiance. It was an important time for the RPG genre, but no single game meant more to me than Interplay's Wasteland.

I think the graphics are incredibly updated...not outdated...have you tried to play fallout 2 lately? yeah...
As for innovation, story, freedom, skill progression and many other things play into this. Not sure you got that right...Id give it a 9 since you can handcraft your roster.
It feels like you are reviewing this based on nostalgia rather than it being a great game. It's a great game...there are several games that have come out in the spirit of nostalgia and they've stunk...this one didnt need nostalgia to be great.

"Another site gave this an 8 too....is there something wrong with me? I thought Divinity: original sin was AWFUL...this game kills it...."
If the reviewer says they were a mega fan of the original in their youth then you can probably add 1.5 to their review score cos a new game can't compete with nostalgia.
Are you crazy or just dont like fantasy? Divinity: Original Sin is a really really well made game. This game is very different and both are very very fun with many of things to do.
What?! I wasn't even aware that it came out..I thought it was later this month?
Kind of a weird review. It is all about bringing an awesome kind of RPG back to this generation. Forget your hand holding and easy facerolls. People have forgotten what true RPG freedom is. This new batch of isometric RPGs are reminding the,.
What was once old is new again. It is how it goes. :-)
I played the hell out of the original on my C-64 back in the 80's and have replayed it a few times since then, I'm also a huge Fallout series fan. I haven't played Wasteland 2 yet, but plan on getting it soon.
I'm always hungry for sci-fi & post apocalypse games, I am firmly one of those that doesn't give two flips about fantasy even though I've played my fair share of fantasy games. I used to love fantasy but sometime in my early 20's I started disliking it and the dislike has turned to disdain over the years while my love for sci-fi has only grown (I've always loved sci-fi even when I was a little kid).
So, like with the Wasteland 1 & the Fallout games, I plan on putting this game through its paces and then some.
Nice for people that hasnt tried this kind of game before or oldtimers
