I just threw up in my mouth a little. D3 and good should not even be in the same sentence unless it's something along the lines of "D3 was good at being a useless polished turd".
You should probably see a doctor about digestive issues if you're randomly throwing up. D3 was pretty mediocre at launch. It's terrific now. Far, far better than the other two games.
Yeah... clearly D3 is better. With a lesser crafting system. A lesser skill system. Less variety. Cartoony vs gritty graphics.
But hey it's Blizzard and has 10000 achievements. I *really* don't understand why anyone would pick D3 over PoE. D3 is far, far worse than D2 ever was, and PoE is the true successor to D2.
I have no idea what you are talking about. Unless you mean "grainy" as "gritty". Which equals a lesser visual style.
I will take a lesser crafting system and skill system if it means there isn't a million choices that mean nothing. That may just be me though.
POE is no successor to anything. It's a great copy though.
"This may hurt a little, but it's something you'll get used to. Relax....."
having beaten the game on the first difficulty, I can say it's certainly pretty good for a F2P. Very nice job.
the first difficulty is just a smidgen into the game. You still have 2 other difficulties and Mapping....By far the best part about POE. If you don't get to the low 60's and start mapping you can't possibly judge the game.
do higher difficulties change the gameplay in any way? or is it just bullet sponge mode and high damage? If gameplay doesnt change at all then im probably going to have enough with the first difficulty. Or am i asking too much from GGG? They made a great little game anyway.
Depends what you mean by game play. It doesn't turn into a shooter ..... but how you gear and approach combat changes a lot after each difficulty. Often what worked in normal fails hard in cruel or meciless. You're priorities in stats change and how you face encounters.
It really does ramp up in difficulty with each stage. But it still plays like it did the moment you log in.
I don't play this game simply because of the lack of full respec, excluding patches they come out with.
That's just a bunch of garbage that if you want to try something new, you gotta restart the entire game with a new character. Other than that the game is fine though.

At release yes. have you played it recently? i actually stop playing POE because D3 is that much fun.
I think that D3 actually got worse from launch overall. A more dull loot system, no trading, very limited build availability, uninspired legendaries, repetitive endgame content and finally, free respecs.
Wont be playing this until they fix the steep angle at which you view the game.
Had they put an angle like Diablo 3 or Torchlight, I would be all over this game...
im pretty sure the angle is the same as in Diablo II, which Path of Exile is trying to resemble... OK i just compared two screenshots:
and there is a difference, also gave me nostalgia over D2... almost strong enough to make me fire it up again
to be honest, ive spent many hours in Path of Exile, i dont know if they can amount to 24, and ive spent days, if not months (hours combined) playing Diablo II
i dont know if im getting older or burnt out, or both, but i would still prefer D2 over PoE, same goes for Heroes III over every other version or similar game... maybe its the nostalgia... who knows
As of this post, i have 1430 hours in Path of Exile (on Steam, i estimate about 200 more from closed/open beta). I haven't spent this much time on a game since Diablo 2.

Sorry I much prefer the almost top down view of my character. For one it gives me perfect vision of the battlefield surrounding my avatar, especially around corners and buildings. Secondly it allows developers to actually have meaningful ranged abilities actually go to the edge of screen and allows mobs to hide off screen and be tactful.
In honest the angle is pretty much the same as Diablo and Torchlight, the only thing I could really see as a difference is that POE is zoomed in more. D3 and POE play like different games mind you and although D3 is fun (after many many patches) POE has always had a depth in it that D3 has not yet caught up to.
Pretty much the same? Who are you kidding?
Diablo 3:
Path of Exile:
As you can see, the path of exile angle is much steeper vertically than the diablo 3.
Diablo 2 angle is pretty much the same as PoE. Though the best imo is D3 and Torchlight.

In most cases you'd have to do that anyway, because most items aren't universally good to all builds, therefore you'd need a brand new setup of gear.

I played PoE and didn't like it at all.
But i give props to the developers for making a well liked game with almost no funding/backing to speak off.

Maybe if you didn't actually play the game.
