Gorgon: Look No Further!

NuhaineNuhaine Member UncommonPosts: 58

Project: Gorgon has given me a riveting experience that I invite all of you to see for yourselves. It hearkens back to the days of Asherons Call and Everquest 1, and even has a soft spot for those of us in the gaming community who enjoyed games like Ultima Online.

I thoroughly enjoy the way interaction with NPC's plays out in this game. Every single NPC has a 'faction bar' which you can raise to get more out of that NPC. Most of the NPC's in Project Gorgon have something for you, whether it be a new skill or a new recipe for one of your skills, or just an important place to sell your wares!

While there is only limited PvP so far, Eric, the mastermind behind the game, is listening to the community and may have plans to add more content for those who wish to play PvP. This is still an alpha, and is being updated weekly/monthly. Kickstarter may be failing, but there might be another. Be there for them when that happens, make this amazing game succeed!

Tell your friends, tell everyone who you think might like Gorgon. Bring your guild over and have some fun, there are several areas in the game where grouping is ideal. We have a friendly community that is open to answering questions and sometimes helping out with anything you might need.

Here are some tips & information about the game:

The goblin dungeon in map 2 is good experience. If you get a group together, you can level up your combat skill there all the way to 35-40.

Equipment is random. You can get any rarity starting from the skeletons in the new player cave. It's pretty common, too. You don't have to grind for more than a few hours to see a pretty piece of gear. The mods on it, though, can be different. You can wear a belt to skew the results in your favor, making the item drop with bonuses for your profession.

There are many combat professions: Sword, Archery, Fire Magic, Hammer, Staff, Psychology, Mentalism, Battle Chemist, and Druid.

There are several 'curses' which allow you to play as an animal. These animals have their equipment mods. They are Lycanthropy, Spider, Cow, Deer, and Pig. Druids can also turn into Ravens, but there is no raven specific gear or skills currently.

To level up foraging, buy a handsaw from Therese. Pick up the Oak Planks northwest of town for foraging Exp. Bluebells, Grapes, and Red Aster flowers are also nearby. If you are a swordsmen, save all your fruit and give it to Hogan at Hogan's Keep in map 2, otherwise use it for cooking.

You can stack many buffs in this game. You can have one of each of the following: Potions, Mycology Potions, Food, Cheese (Mogyar Cheese is considered regular food for buffing), Flower Appreciation (LOTS of Power from this!), Meditation, Calligraphy, and a few other buffs. You can get pretty powerful just from consumables.

At the moment every skill is pretty powerful. I find that Fire Magic with Druid for turning into a Raven to get around quick is the most popular combination for farming gear and materials at higher levels.

The trade system/looting system is not complete yet. Trading is accomplished by dropping your item on the ground. There are no scammers that I know of yet, but you have been warned. You can /tip name X up to transfer gold, up to 10000 at a time.

Hope some of my tips were helpful!

I'll be checking this thread for any questions over the next few days, or you can ask in Global chat when you get in the game!

That is the great thing about PG in my opinion: The community.  People are nice and don't try to screw you whenever possbile. You can drop an item on the ground and they pay (/tip) you afterwards. Also people drop all sorts of stuff for others to pick up for free. Sure there is trade and for some rare materials they ask for a price over the normal merchant value  but if you take the guy above me, Ratero, for example I see him dropping various stuff in the first town from time to time without asking for anything. Really makes me want to help others. And the whole community is like that. You got a problem or are stuck? Ask for help nicely and you get it. Stupid question? I got answered most of mine, maybe I had to ask twice but that is the worst case I encountered.

In the 2 months I played this game I saw 2-3 *peep*holes who flamed, normaly I got this in an hours in other games. One of those trolls got banned, dropping the N word over and over again isnt a good thing to do while a GM is on, and the other one I havent seen for a week.

If you are bored with your normal MMO give this one a try. Worst that can happen is you end up as a cow :D

Cu ingame, Lumix (new acc after loosing my old login, "never" play drunk!)

Lumix nails the subject on the head with his reply. Our community is quite literally a diamond.

It's really nice to finally have our own forum.

Gameplay and community sure are very important in a mmorpg game, ah those were the days when groups chatted and a defeat did not inspire rage and blaming instantly, but I'll just have to wait for a couple of graphics passes here before I join in :P Good luck with the project and perhaps one day you'll have my money :)

I just want to say that despite being dated, and despite limited resources, the third and fourth zones in the game (Kurr Mountains and Sunvale Island) look absolutely stunning at maximum graphics, and are comparable to other games coming from Unity. This is an Alpha, where the A stands for "Absolutely Not Working As Intended" and there is a substantial amount of time to go before the game reaches a launch.

I'm planning on taking a few screenshots and uploading them here on MMORPG.com to show the community that there is more to it than the stale-looking first map. It just needs more work, so give it time and let it grow on you! Just like a Myconian. Here, have a mushroom smoothie!
