Looking for something to settle down

PixelPandaPixelPanda Member Posts: 35

As you may allready have found out I am searching for a mmorpg I can invest some time in.

I havent been able to stick to a mmorpg for a long time and really miss this endgame feeling :-)

I am searching for something pve related, I love grinding gear like in my wow vanilla times, pvp would be nice but is not a Must have. Graphics should be good, dont want to play an old game, at least not geaphicly older than wow.

Anything you could really recommend?

FFXIV sounds like a good fit.  It's probably the best PvE themepark out there right now (though some would claim SWTOR or GW2 maybe).  There is tons of stuff to do at endgame, with horizontal progression like leveling side jobs, crafting/gathering classes, vanity gear, and housing.  There is also traditional WoW-style vertical progression like getting new gear via dungeons and raids.  There are two instanced PvP modes as well, a 4v4 deathmatch and a 24v24v24 capture-and-defend battleground.  While some of the gear you get through PvP looks awesome, it will never compete with raiding gear for usefulness in PvE because of the way they do itemization.

Also, the graphics are awesome.  The team adds mini content patches about every 6-8 weeks, with large content patches that extend the various ongoing storylines and add new dungeons/raids every 3-4 months.  I play a few hours a day and I can just barely complete all the content they add before the next patch hits, so you'll definitely get your $$ worth despite the subscription (which is only $12/mo for a single character slot, or $15/mo for unlimited).

    I'll stop advertising now ;p

All I can say is ... ARCHEAGE! If you have not tried it, then you should, if you have and you did not like it... Sadness, its the best game i have played in years.

I Inders tried archeage, didnt seemed like a pve game at all, more like a pvp/crafting/farming mmo. Couldnt get into the class system, aktually decidet to drop it for something more pve centric.

Definitely not ArcheAge if your looking for PvE, I would go the route of FFXIV, GuildWars 2 and SWToR would be the ones that come to my mind.

*just remembered - RIFT and WoW are other ones, especially since both got a new expansion on the Horizon.

Sad indeed, you should change your handle too Pixelbear :)

Suppose its not for everyone, but I love it! :D Hope you find your PVE game, and the Pixelbear comment is just a small joke :)

    lots of love!

Double post 2 mins apart? They do have an edit function. Could have added this post to the one above. lol

Anyway @OP, maybe look at Life is Feudal. If you like crafting. It's different but may be a breath of fresh air. :)

I think I learned it the hard way, I dont want this "breath of fresh air" , I just want my good old mmo, with an item spiral, gear grinding and dungeon runs, just like blizzard brought us years ago.
For sure, I dont mind some new Elements here and there but the Basics should be given.

Rift, FF:XIV, or try WoW again when WoD releases.
  • PixelPandaPixelPanda Member Posts: 35
Rift and ff both look interesting. Ff sure looks amazing, rift looks a bit dated but it sounds interesting non the less. How is the endgame in rift? Maybe compared to ff? Wod is on my radar, will try it for sure:-)

Thanks for the amazing help so far, didnt expected that.

After some research I think it will be eighther realm reborn or back to wow. Is wow worth it atm or should I wait for the release of wod. Does realm reborn do anything better then wow?

You should try Tera, it has everything every other themepark mmo has, but has the best combat in the genre right now.

The graphics are also beautiful, though the Asian style turns some people off. If you can look beyond the beautiful yet Asian aesthetics, with boring WoW-like questing, then this is probably the best MMO out there right now despite those things.

i think you could also take a look at the secret world (unless you are looking specifically for fantasy game) and guild wars 2

FF14 does everything better than WoW. You wont be disappointed. The only thing that I would say WoW might have that FF14 doesnt is class customization. But class customization in WoW is  a joke and is pretty much non existent in FF14.
