FFXI needs N. American servers

with half the population on servers having 70+ levels in jobs makes it quite difficult for those just starting to find groups. Not to mention a lack of WHM jobs which are vital to the formation of exp groups. I'm currently theif 21/ War 10 and cannot find a group to save my life. Qufim and Dunes seem to be popular spots but half the time they are Japanesse or Import players with lvl 50+ toons.

I'd like to be able to play the game without being restricted to half the population. Other than that, this game really rules. But logging in and sitting with my looking for party flag on for 2 hours at a time is not really fun. The one WHM I grouped with from lvl 15-21 plays like 12 hours a day so he's level 27 now and I cannot group with him. A RL friend has already stopped playing for the reason's I've stated. Give us a couple N. American servers so we can play the game from "Day One"

Sorry, I'm not experiencing any of these issues.  I was really worried while waiting for my copy to arrive because of posts like this one.  I thought there wouldn't be anyone speaking english.  I'm on Odin server and it's rare for me to see anyone speaking anything but english.  Considering I'm rarely on during NA peak hours because I'm in the UK, I find it odd that anyone who is on then would have any problem.  As far as having all those higher lvl players around, they've saved my butt a couple of times.  Also, because there are higher lvl players around, it's easier to make money in the Auction.  They have alot of money and don't feel like farming crystals, or synthesis supplies.  I have to kill stuff that drops that anyway and want their money.  Every one has been very polite.  I've been in a couple of groups where everyone else's first language wasn't english, but they used it just for me.  I'm loving the game, and the community, even the people I cant understand image

I also am having a great time. I'm glad that we are playing with the Japanese, some of them are incredibly nice. Here's two examples:

1.) The reason my linkshell started is because a Japanese person started one up and invited tons of Americans solely because we were new to the game and he wanted us to have a linkshell. That's pretty cool in my book =)

2.) Although another Japanese friend of mine has several jobs, some over 30, he still enjoys grouping with me at level 12. When I saw him on a few nights ago I simply said, "Hello", and he immediately asked if I had a party. When I said no he ran from Wadi to Bastok, changed his job to something my level, then ran off to the Highlands to meet me. We partnered for a few hours. It was a blast. In the mean time he showed me how to effectively use a skillchain and he learned a few bits of english jargon =) It was great.

I don't think we need our own servers. There are some problems finding groups at my level but that's not due to lack of English players, they're tons of em...just most don't know that this isn't a solo game.

This is a tough issue.  I personally havent had much difficulty finding groups or english speaking players but I specifically picked a server I knew many Americans were chosing so there would be a large english speaking community at my level durring the hours I play.

In addition to that I have met several very nice Japanese players that have been fun to group with and lots of help, though sometimes difficult to communicate with.

I however think its sad when people respond with posts that basically say "this isn't happening to me, so it obviously is not a problem.".  The fact is, there are many different servers, timeframes, and starting cities that NA players are playing on and there are many that are running into this issue.

I find it hard to believe that everyone running into these issues is making them up just for something to complain about.  Its also not really feasible to ask them to start over and over on server after server trying to find a crowd who plays the times they do, near their level, and speak a langauge they can understand.

It think it would have made good business sense for them to have created a few new servers where at least you know the majority of the population would be similar in level.

I think its a great game and hope that those individuals having these problems find a solution so they can enjoy the game more.  Since there are no new servers the only thing I can suggest is trying to remake your character on another server and try again, maybe you will find a population that will be more in line with your level and play times.  Good luck, I hope you succeed.

One way to help with the group issue is to find a clan that is on that server and join them. :)

Personaly, I have had no issues with japanese uber level players, as they have kicked me items, raised me, and capped creatures that had me trapped deep in a cave where i shouldnt have been.

If only the could come up with some sort of translator... (they don't have one yet do they?) Then all would be well. I would like to know what they are saying overseas.. on the other hand, I have a reason to learn Japanese now :)

Yeah, there is a translator. Press TAB in the chat window.

Personally, I think the translator kinda stinks =(
