When it comes to The Elder Scrolls Online, ZeniMax has published frequent roadmaps for where the game will go. Yet, after delaying the console edition in May for “approximately six more months of development”, the journey of ESO on consoles is still shrouded in mystery. Here are some reasons why patience will be key to the payoff should you want to run around Tamriel on your couch, and why waiting could be the best (or worst) decision for the game’s console future.

I think putting it on the consoles would improve the MMO market in the long run. If it had released when they first claimed I would have bought it. I doubt I will buy it at this point because there is no newness about it, everything has been done, found, explored.
They also promised that anyone that bought the PC version before June would be able to transfer over to the console version when it released, which means that when it releases there will already be a lot of high level players, those high level players will be bored with nothing to do so most of them will either be in the noob areas power leveling friends, or grieving new players. Its the sad way of the MMO worlds.
Not so nice guy!
They need to remove the sub fee and make it buy to play without cash shops or just watch the game fail. Without the sub, it will take off on consoles like wildfire, I surely would be part of the fire as well.
Also run some marketing that explains to people that this is not Skyrim online and why being mmo means some things will be compromised but there were be plenty of additions that add to the Elder Scrolls experience, primarily the ability to play with friends and make new friends in game.
I still believe this.
What's happening? They're burning cash (I doubt they're running in the black) to get the game ready to go for the console launch in the hopes that it will see a much better reception than it did on PC.
They're banking on the console launch now, end of story. If that doesn't go well for them, I fully expect a business model transition to B2P with content bundled up and released as DLC in large packages at a slower rate than it is now (in addition to the usual cosmetic/convenience cash shop items and likely an optional subscription. Basically TSW monetization)
Aye i`m with you on that. It could help MMO market in a big way. Some will fail and some will make it.
Been playing MMO games since 1997 and i would love to see MMO games make it big on Consoles.
Obviously Zenimax has been having a rocky final year - no wait that's Bungie? (Maybe not!)
Zenimax's last word on the topic was "try for this year but may not make it". There is nothing to suggest it is going to be next year however as it stands. AoC was going to have a console version after all.
And the problems with it launching on console remain such as the issue of having a sub. Will this be the next Titan?
From someone who clearly doesn't play. There are tonnes of people playing this game. Towns, especially banks, are super busy, finding a group for dungeons takes only minutes, you'll even find people in the most remote corners of the world. I know because i'm going to every nook and cranny.
Also, I say keep the sub fee. It'll keep whiners and 'i want it all for nothing' people out of the game.
Your love of the halfling leaf has clearly slowed your mind...
Great spin article. When they start releasing numbers about the tons of people playing I will believe till then their forums say it all even with censorship. I see their Steam forums are still locked down...what successful game locks down a Steam forum?
I really liked the game when it first came out, but the way they do things.

Can't believe people still use this argument.
On topic, i would love to buy a console version as i am trying to get my wife into MMOS and she wouldn't play it unless it is on console.
Always the excuse to change the subscription model.
Keep the sub. It is working. ZOS obviously hasn't gone out of business after one month of not going FTP.

A sub fee has never been able to keep whiners out.
And really there was absolutely no need for you to post your account picture.
Seems to me that account picture kind of proves her presence in the game, or is it just a coincidence that her ESO name and MMORPG.com name are the same?
It's fine to delay the game, but putting a time frame on it was a mistake I think. I doubt they will have the console version ready by 6 months (by Dec/Jan). Their hope was to probably to have some of the exciting new features such as the championing system ready for the console version. But with the way things look, they can't even keep up with the constant bug fixes for the Pc version (some of which are newly introduced). ESO has definitely come a long way, but every time I see those darned patch notes I can't help but think it's still in beta.
^This. The only reason they're even considering releasing this for consoles is because it sucked so bad on PC. Compared to the success of D2 this was a wimper. Now its time to milk this game for every dollar they can possibly muster.
So sick of people thinking just because it didn't get WoW sub numbers, it's a flop. Even 400-500k subs is healthy
same here, and its even funnier when they talk like their opinions are some sort of facts. lol. I personally think the $20 dollar upgrade for pc owners is a good deal. I hope they count people who bought the game at green man gaming, otherwise i will pass.
It will count since no matter where you bought it from everyone have to put their key code into the zenimax account system
I who is still playing ESO can say it will be hard to power lvl your friend with high lvl char for the wont get any exp if you are in same group beside ESO have very mature community so why would people run around in low lvl zone kill new player when we have whole zone that we fight for be king over whole Tamriel???
