PlanetSide 2: Tramell Ray Isaac Leaving SOE

In a very short note on the PlanetSide 2 forum, Tramell Ray Isaac has announced that he is not only leaving the game project as Art Director, but also going to "another company". Bill Yeatts will be taking over Ray's spot.

As the new Art Director of Planetside2.



I've had a blast working with you guys all these many months. I will certainly miss you all. The good news is, you are in good hands. Bill was on the Ps2 team from start to ship so he is very well versed in what is and is not PlanetSide 2. He is running the show now and he may contradict so of the 'rules' I set in the past, but that is now his prerogative. Please, give my friend a warm welcome to the Player Studio community.



As for me, I will be moving on to another company. Thank you for all of your hard work. It's been a blast.

    I wonder how much of a effect this will be for the player studio artists, changes are bound to happen.

    Shame. But I am sure he went to try his hands on something new. Planetside 2 has allready established look, and there is not much challenge for art direction there

    Really bummed out about this.

    This basically destroys 2/3 of the face of SoE for me, first margaret, and now Tramell.. 

     

    Sure hope for their sakes higby doesn't leave, they'll have nothing.

    Sad to see him go P2 is a good game but new players have a really hard time getting a starting hand on the game, P2 needs stuff like other FPS games have, like tutorials in game, co ops etc etc, so newer players can learn the ropes.

    They have a walk through when you first make a toon, you do not need much more than what is already in game.  You aren't really splitting atoms, see bad guy, shoot bad guy, rinse repeat.

     

    Sad to see Tramell go, he was a great influence and made a huge positive impact on this game.  Best of luck to him.

    If you want a new idea, go read an old book.

    The main problem is new guy, takes 2 step new guy dead, new guy revives, new guy take 2 steps, new guy dead, that is not fun.

    Its a major loss for Planetside2. He was doing more promo for the game than anyone. Even had is own car with a big PS2 decal. But its not all bad since he joined CliffyB at BossKey which is a crazy opportunity making the next greatest scifi FPS.
