No Healer class?

in Black Desert Online


Being a professional MMO healer, I know we are not appreciated until you are at 10% HP  :-P

All kidding aside, I saw there is not a dedicated healer class in BD.  What will happen?  Everyone takes care of themselves with self heal?  A support class will have some healing skills?  Skill trees like SWTOR to choose to be a healer but it is not a "healer class"?

    Yeah, because in medieval battles behind every group was staying one healer to keep fighters alive :) PvP without healer is great, but you need mechanics to push players in groups. Good BDO has enough features for that purpose, and there is no need of holly trinity system.

    Nah, it just doesn't sound as fun without healing for me. I loved the pvp mechanics in UO the most with healing and taht game also had player collision and no trinity.

    To elaborate a bit more.... there is no healing in the game at all from classes. The game is dependent on healing potions and you will be spamming it quite often.

    Anyway....There have been plenty AA titles lately that have builds instead of classes that work just fine to great. So I don't see the worry. May the "Holy Trinity" rest in piece.

    Holy Trinity has nothing to do with healing and group pvp though. Look at UO and EVE for examples of absolutely no PVE having any bearing on how group pvp is played out. Trinity is lame but healing is not I believe.

    I'm looking forward to finding out more information about the Wizard class. I hope it will have some support mechanics, even if it doesn't it's the only class for me.

    For the side topic, depending on how the game is balanced an MMO can work with or without healers.

    Dedicated classes promote group play and that's just not allowed anymore in todays MMO's.  Just need to plug in generic player 6DOH7XL and zerg the dungeon.

    Umm what?

    Did you just use RL medieval battle analogy for Black Desert?

    Because none of the magic classes or giants and 99.9% of stuff in Black Desert

    wouldnt be applicable in medieval battles either.....because its all fantasy.

    Juat like healing classes.

    Never use RL analogies to make sense out of video game mechanics.

    Have you watched Vikings. Magic was real in medieval times, because people believed it is real. So there was giants and magicians. Not literally in battles, but in stories about the battles. It is a question of immersion. And I really hate the part of the game - LFH!, and when the healer does not come the group do not play, so every players shall make a personal healer, no matter if he likes to play with it or no.

    The PvP fighting system of BDO is far better than any other right now, sad the PvP trading and crafting are not so good, they are too much pve. In AA they are better. 

    And thats exactly why i prefer skills over classes. In UO or EVE you can just simply carry what you need to heal because you choose to learn it. There is no need to wait for a specialized healer in these games and that i think is going to be very sad about BD in not having the healing dynamic in group pvp.

    The two classes that are supposed to have support mechanics have not been released yet.
