Scared of cheaters

RingsideRingside Member UncommonPosts: 249

I just bought a new computer so my wife can start playing MMOs with me. I made her try Elder Scroll's Online but she realized the liked tab targeting games more after a couple hours on my WoW account.

She plays Ipad games like HayDay which is like the crafting side only so I figured out she would probably like a game like AA.

When I decide to dedicate myself to an MMO I dedicate several hours a week. As the title says Im realy scared about the whole experience ruined by cheaters of all sort. PvP hackers, Economy being screwed up due to cheaters, Bots and teleport hacking.

I just Read on forums that most spells are client side which makes the game extremely easy to hack... Can anybody tell me If it is possible to ignore cheaters, trying to just enjoy the game knowing that a lot of people are getting huge and unfair advantages is kind of mind bugling.

Also I heard that it is pretty much impossible to get a land for a farm, If it is only a matter of getting the farm in pvp land, I could deal with that since im a huge fan of PvP and usually I am the predator and not the foe in this type of games.

Tks for reading, and Hopefully somebody can enlighten me with an informative reply.

There is no land right now....

Gold sellers are making a killing with bots and trade route hacks.....players with lots of homes some in the 20s need gold to pay for taxes.

Players are now starting to purchase hacks and the Manipulation of the Ah has started and soon inflation will overtake the economy leaving New Players in the DUST

Some people say there are no lands some people say there are still some but you have to look in the pvp area.

as for the cheaters I saw a video saying they started banning people already

The problem is a cheater gets banned, he/she/it makes another account and goes right back to cheating.

Not to sure about PvP hacks. Most I've seen are all about making gold in some way, shape or form.

There is no land left. Do NOT listen to those who are saying there is. Any open leftover land was taken just for the sake of reselling it at outrageous pricing, most of the time the person buying being cheated out of their gold when the owner doesn't clear the space.

XL Games wanted a game full of douchebags and it got them. Now their going to kill the game by New Years as the market starts being manipulated making it impossible to compete against the land barons in endgame PvP content.

    Be afraid.

My guild took a large chunk of land during head start. We arranged our houses and farms to take up maximum room so we could get farmhouses and large houses later. I know this is greedy but that's beside the point.

Anyway, two days ago we were going to rearrange our farms so we could get 2 thatched farm houses down. We put scouts around the entire area to make sure there was no one around to steal our land while we did it.

It was clear so we demolished 4 16x16s and an 8x8 to get the farmhouses in. No sooner do they get demolished than a land hack bot (same one) takes all 4 16x16 plots instantly with houses and we lost most of our land.

I would suggest joining a good guild.  The game plays a lot better that way and everything is easier to do with help from a group including sharing land.

So in order to fight againts bots and hackers we are forced into sharing land with a guild...

I just bought 2 copies of Guild Wars 2 even tho this would have been my second choice.

Tks for all of your answers

Depends what you want from the game really.

~ If you want to farm you need to be a patron or forget it IMHO.

~ Hacks are a legit problem and TBH I do not think it is worth subbing (being a patron) at this point in time.

~ There is a f2p option and it is okay if you don't waste time or labor on farming.

~ My wife and myself are quite enjoying the game as f2p, I ignored crafting/farming and have plenty of labor points, my wife blew through all her LP doing the first trade run and it is kind of a PITA to recover from little LP, at 200 LP you need to start being conservative.

Depends what you want, just leveling and doing the quest is quite fun for the both of us barring we ran into a problem where sometimes you lose your main quest from your quest log and tracker after patches or if the client crashes on you. I did find a work around though, see the link.

It's f2p, it costs nothing to try it as f2p other than a little time and internet usage if you have a monthly cap and that is important to you.
