GOTY / Most Played Game

Some really good games came out this year, some really bad games also came out.. we are in October there are 2 months left.. what is your game of the year so far? If you dont have one, what game did you play the most this year so far?

My GOTY Pick: ME: Shadow of Mordor  ..A 10/10 game in every department, if you havent played this yet, do it. I swear its amazing. Best game so far this year imo. Think AC2 + Batman AC + The Witcher + LOTR = ME: SOM

Runner Up for GOTY: The Walking Dead Season 2 by Telltale Games

Most Played in 2014 for me : Skyrim (Modded)

Side Note: I am looking forward to the new DA game, Bioware makes great single player games..also The Division by Tom Clancy looks promising.

Do not start flaming because its not an mmo.. the mmos that came out in 2014 were all crap.

EDIT: If I had to pick an mmo it would be SWTOR for all the improvements they made this year.

Europa Universalis IV would be my top game

Warframe would be my most played.

I think firefall and SWTOR are the only mmos I've played this year so it would be a toss up between which was better because they're both good for different reasons.

For me, for 2014 and every years since 1979..

    Game of the Year:  GOLF

I have played this game for over 30 years,  The entertainment value is unmatched.. I can solo this game, or do it in a group..  It requires me to use twitch skills, and THINK about what I'm doing and when I'm doing it..  I have laughed playing this game, yelled playing it.. I have even screamed playing it.. This has gotten my senses more active then any game I have played in my life..  And unlike most games people play on the PC.. I have NO FOOK'n CLUE how I'm going to perform that given day.. Some days I own the course, other days it owns me..  It's very unpredictable, just ask the US Ryder Cup team..  The game is not subscription based (stick that up your wazoo country clubs), it's B2P format with a cash shop..  I do enjoy a dog and a beer at the turn..

PLUS:.. It's healthier for you..  I have never lost weight or felt rewarded sitting my ass in a chair all day long.. lmao    Second best game of the year belongs to >>  BOWLING.. We just started winter leagues..  <grin>

Skyrim has taken most of my gaming time this past year (for the second year in a row). However, Assassin's Creed 1 (on PC) and Need 4 Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 has taken some significant time this past year.

MMO-wise, Wizard101 still gets the most of my time online.

New games just do not interest me anymore. How many different ways can we kill things?

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

Actually never played wizard101 is it any good?  I feel you on new games.. mostly all of them are the same but the innovation is slowly returning..just nothing nailed on the head just yet.

Divinity: Original Sin. This game blew me away right from the first 15'. I can't remember when was the last time i had 8 hour play sessions with a single player game.

    MMO's: SW TOR.

I think HearthStone will get GOTY, and really it probably should, so I wouldn't have a problem with that.

First of all by posting this in your title "

The game i may have played the most is oddly a very old 1999 Ut99,it is even called GOTY edition.Odd because it is that old and i still find it to be one of the best sold products in gaming history.Everything about UT99 and all of the series is about community and freedom, rpg developers are more about greed and secrets and misleading and giving you nothing but willing to sell you everything. In UT99 you DO own the product and nothing will ever remove it's value unlike online games that if they close the doors your product is worth nothing.

    2013: XCom - Enemy Within.

2014: Maybe Age of Wonders 3...? Or Path of Exile.

    MMO for both years: SWTOR.

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

MMOHut has a nice "First Look Video" that is about 10 minutes :)

Wizard101 is both fun and maddening. It is a "family" game and the graphics are "kid-ish." Your avatar is a young child.

Chat is also tightly controlled. Kids under 13 only have a drop down menu with set comments. Others can type freely (but typos will come out as "...").

Let me warn you, though. Wizard101 is NOT a F2P game. the first area in "The Spiral" is Wizard City. There are 4 "streets" and 1 dungeon here. You have access to Unicorn Way ONLY as free. You either have to subscribe or buy "crowns" to open up the other streets and dungeon. It also has a VERY hefty cash shop.

It is a fun game and I am enjoying my time there :)

edit - ESO has taken all my mmorpg time since launch.

  • Moar61Moar61 Member UncommonPosts: 260

ESO is the only game I bought this year and henceforth has taken most of my play time, probably around 300-350 hours in it.

Holding out for GTA5 on pc and the Witcher 3
