I would appreciate answers to some noob questions.
-Can I simply explore and adventure on new worlds(pve) ?
-How robust is crafting ?
-Is there faction vs faction conflict with territorial control. If so how much a part of the game is it ?
-Is this basically a pve game with fighting against npc?
-is there a website or two devoted to the game where someone who really wants to get into the game can go ?
Thanks in advance for the help.

This game meets the bare essentials for an MMO. You'll have about a months worth of content before you tire of it. It can now be considered a 2 faction game, with no interaction except in pvp queued zones.
I would like to ask my noob questions.
I want an all Romulan crew, If I buy Zen and buy officers from the npc are there looks/gender and abilities random? Auctions list officers stats but the npc just says Romulan Engineer.
Also how do I add an officer, it says my bridge is full? Am I only allowed so many officers equal to the number of consoles in my ship?
Yep, the current ship you fly defines the number / ranks / class setup of your bridge crew. (for example 1 sci ensign, 1 tac ensign, 1 tac Lt, 1 eng ensign in a default LtC escort). You can have multiple ships, and -I think- limitless Bridge Officers on your roster, if you buy enough BOff slots. I mean, probably there is a limit, since only space is limitless
You don't have to worry about default BOff looks and abilities, the looks you can modify as you want (maybe not the gender, I've never tried that to be honest), and the same applies to the abilities - in fact it's a pretty decent system in your build progression.
You choose a role and a playstyle in it, pick a fitting ship, based on the ship's setting you plan a bridge crew (with ranks and abilities) and then you train your Officers to match your plan. You promote them, teach them, swapping abilities, etc. Or if you find a fitting one, you buy him/her from the Exchange.
Maybe it's just me (I love to goofing around with BOffs and DOffs) but I think you shouldn't waste Zen on Officers. As you level up, you'll get a few assigned to your ship, and there are DOff assignments as well, which result Bridge Officers - with good DOffs and some luck you can have lots of purple BOffs this way. During the way to level cap you can easily receive 10-15 BOffs for free.
Edit: to the BOff slots, a quick wiki search said that a captain can only have 54 BOff's at once. Not limitless, my bad.
