Korean developers are not famous for their brilliantly coded engines. Trion is obviously in a difficult situation where they don't actually own the game and are limited in what they can do, unfortunately they have to rely on the Korean developer.

Trion knew this going in, they deserve what they get for not making sure to cover their bases.  Obviously all they thought about was quick and easy cash with none of the responsibility.

They have Gamer ID in Korea, they don't need heavy anti hack and anti bot systems like we need. Korean gamers have to link their online accounts with their national ID. Get caught once, your identity is permabanned.

I took so much time in searching for land to be available, but knowing that as an honest player, I have no chance in clamming a piece of land to at least make use of my 16x16 farm. I feel very dissapointed atm, but I will probably re-sub when things settle down, or at least I hope they do...

I have the same sentiments right now, especially with WoW and SWTOR coming out with expansions. Looking for land seems to cause more work/stress than a "game" should. Was becoming more like "work" IMHO.

Both would take some coding but would totally solve this terrible housing situation.

The problem is that XLGames is slow to respond to anything.

It's XL'S money to lose - as they get a cut from all sales in EU/US.

How do you figure the main focus of MMORPGs is selling founders packs while providing a terrible release of a product filled with client side hacks.

they prolly tought: hey, gamers want housing lets put it in and sell more copy's.....devs realy dont care about the game itself anymore, only the money it brings.

Trion's known about this for months, since alpha. It's been all over their forums daily. The only reason this response came is because of the Joystiq article. Unfortunately the mainstream game press hasn't been reporting on all of the other issues, like Trion's illegal bait and switch on Founder's packs, not honouring the 10% discount for Patrons, no responses to tickets for paying customers, and all the other stuff.

I so miss understood the housing part of the game. I thought you where free to build a house where ever. But its locked to zones....ugh.

How come housing is such a overlooked thing anyway in MMORPG's these days? Gamers ask for it every time, its probably one of the most wanted features. And of all the MMORPG's that came out the last 10 years only Lord of the Rings Online did something with it. Though that is zoned away from the world itself....but still at least there was some thought put into it.

Problems with Trion is that they allways respond.

But never actualy do somthing against it.

(And when they do it hits the normal player harder then the ones they want to go after)

Not talking about the hacking botting and other crap. sinse they allways blame XL for that simple.

    XL this XL that.

Never seen any of them so galled GM's in game.

Nowdays someone thats called a GM is someone whi sits back in their office counting the money they have made.

A GM is not someone from costumer support. moost of the time they know shit about the game itself.

They just read some scripts and thats it.

On the old days u had a GM that was in game during bussness hours.

You had a problem it got fixed, or at least u SAW them trying to do somthing about it.

Nowdays MMORPG's are like single player games, just call support.

And it it somehow must be that they need permission from XL games to actualy ban account for botting or so.

Since all i see them do is talk make comments. and it has been like that since Alpha.

They have been blaming like the sun, the moon, Comcast for having maintenance and actualy only trion has problems with it, then its not actualy comcast but some kiddie doing a DDOS attack.

Its about time they start blaming themselfs. but nowdays they dont do that nomore. they just leave the studio and make another game.

No wonder so many Korean games have huge hacking issues when westernized.  Pretty much makes AA a no play for many of us.  Tried playing, but the hackers are so obvious and having a major effect on game play, makes this an obvious delete on the hard drive.

The point is that Trion has known about these issues since Alpha and have basically done NOTHING!.  Granted it is not their code, but if the Korean developers are not inclined to fix it, then this game is basically a huge joke on the anyone attempting to play it.

For all those people sucked into buying founders packs, I suggest chalking it up to a poor choice and move on.  ArchAge is just a really bad game at the moment with little chance of getting better.

  • KellerKeller Member UncommonPosts: 602

This way of claiming plots was already reported in Alpha and Beta. Cool to see Trion is responding this swiftly.

And Scott knew this could happen when they purchased the license from XLgames. As publisher you never have full access to the code or are you allowed to make your own (major) changes.

This was a problem when the game was still in in Alpha here in the west, Trion knew about it, and yet it's only a month after the release that they're "seriously" looking into the issue. >.<
  • Superman0XSuperman0X Member RarePosts: 2,292
Being a third party publisher is much more difficult than people believe. Many companies have tried it, almost all of them have failed. Trion took on this project without a good understanding of the issues that they would have. Over the next year, they are going to have to deal with these issues.. and it is highly likely that they will decide to stop third party publishing. SOE went through this just last year, and has since abandoned most of the third party games (and will not do any more).

To be honest, this particular issue is quite easy to abuse. All you need is an autohotkey script that does the clicks faster than a human can and then the only competition you have left is people using similar scripts.

Slow down? Hardly - subscriptions are not a deterrent to these slimy Chinese and EU companies who have tens of thousands stolen CC numbers to use. Look at recent sub games - ESO had several thousand bots at any given time in game for the first Month. Subs make zero difference.

A P2P game is a lot easier to manage in this regard. So you are wrong.

In most (good ones) P2P games you have to have valid personal info, including a credit card Attached.

The moment such account gets banned, they can no longer use that personal info and credit card. As both are blocked.

So, sooner or later they will run out and/or just give up, when it becomes too much effort.

In a F2P game, you can just use fake personal info, as you don't need to add a credit card.

And that's the problem. In F2P games like ArcheAge, there is just no Financial concequence of getting your account banned.

You just keep creating new ones.

As the most serious cheaters (including RMT industry) don't buy stuff from the cash shop. They are just freeloader accounts, as they know sooner or later the account gets banned.

Although a Founder, I've not tried to play AA since it went live.

I was going to wait for the furor to die down some, but I will say if they can't bring the hacking situation under control I'm not likely to ever play it, just one thing I can't really abide is rampant cheating, especially if it impacts my game play.

I'll keep watching it for now and see if Trion can convince XLGames to actually do something about it, if not. as someone else said, lessons learned.

I have already received s refund for my patron founders pack as they were never able to give me patron status even in alpha. The bug that prevented it was supposed to be fixed by release.

    I AM A SUCKER!

I actually went back and struggled to give them more money as I really wanted to play and you needed patron to own land. And I mean struggle. It took me 9 days and many waits in line, useless and I mean offensively useless e-mails and finally a blitzkrieg of negative comments on every forum I could find before I got any action.

And all for nothing. I still have no land not even a scarecrow garden except in a temp garden area. I haunt the beginner areas for gathering because they are only full of bots who don't care about flowers. I watch then teleport from mob to mob like locusts, scarfing up coin purses and leaving no mobs to kill for quests.

I don't even bother to try for a plot as there are never any available due to the unseen real estate people who scoop up expiring plots BEFORE they expire.

And I swear to God if that creep Hartman opens his stupid mouth again I will delete this game on general principle that I will not be associated with such venality.

TL;DR Don't waste your money on this ponzi scheme of a game.

This is why I am in favor of instanced housing. That would also help, at least in part. Being an old school player I never had an issue with instancing, I never understood why people did. They always said that it made the world feel broken up. Well, I say use your imagination and that wouldnt be the case. But kids these days have very little imagination.

I hope they ban the greedy douchebags using these programs. It'd serve them right to lose everything.

It's also hard to feel like you are part of the game world when you are walled away from it in an instance.  I'm a strong believer that when it comes to housing, more people are interested in being part of the world than for the bragging rights.

I am not sure I understand this,  "They'd slow down a lot of these problems if  they simply switched to full P2P." My take  on  that statement seems to mean that the "f2p" accounts are doing this. As I understand, or unless something has changed, f2p accounts cannot claim and therefore own any form of ingame property. In  others words, you must be P2P now in order  to claim property.

i dont know why ppl like this game....i been playing it since launch and i cant for the life of me get into it...im trying my hardest im lvl 50, keep in mind the housing in this game is 100% broken...i have been looking for open land to build since lvl 10 and i have yet to find any forcing me to compleatly throw out 50% of the game that is housing...havent touched it. he so called pvp in this game is a compleat gankfest....zero skill involved simply run around looking for ppl to kill...unorganized and just gawd awful....be a pirate go on the sea u say? been there done that....ganking ppl for fun isnt fun....well hunt the pirates down you say? been there done that then they come back at you with 20+ of there guild n camp your body forcing you to warp home sobbing liek a lil bitch....

this game has nothign to offer to the average mmorpg player....its a darkfall 2.0 remake...but with a broken housing system....my sub ends in 2 days and needless to say i wont be re subbing why? why do i need it? housing you say? i cant land to build on  so why bother? i have a lil ov er 205 gilda stars and i cant use them because i cant find land....

this game needs to SERIOUSLY take a good hard look at the housing system....LIMITING them to a small area and allowing players to place houses and garders HOWEVER they please is just ruining it...there is about 80% of unused land in housing areas due to poor placment of homes. and gardens....not to mention these housing areas make a neat freak/OCD person GO ape shit n shoot themselfs....the WASTE of space n land IS JUST AWFUL!....

all in all this game in my books works as a mmorpg but the housing is utterly broken to the core....the direction and gameplay is meh at best....but then again i came into this game looking for something new....a game that would save this mmorpg world from its dark stuck where it is style....needless to say it has not....the game cloned alot of what it is from other games....

nothign to see here ppl....move along.....virtual reality is the only thing that can change the mmorpg world...and that isnt coming any time soon...
