Something i find flaw , mature time for plants !

iixviiiixiixviiiix Member RarePosts: 2,256

Today , i go around to find tree to chop for log and i see group of illegal tree that will mature in 5m ,

And you know , 5 people wait to chop those tree off and among of them is owner who beg them to leave make me LOL .

But i think that showing mature time for everyone is not good in this game.

I think the game will be more interest if the mature time not show to anyone other than owner who plant the tree.

If he late and people find his farm when the plants ready mature then he lost all .

But have them wait to chop your tree off because they know when will the tree mature is kind of bad .

It also need to apply to natural grow tree ,

why we know when will they mature when we not the one who plant them ?

It seems people do an awful  lot of standing around and waiting for something in this game.

I agree, people should not see the mature time.   They should be able to attempt to chop it, but not see the precise time when they will be able to steal it.    And in my opinion there should be something like a 5 min window where the owner has a chance to chop it first, before it goes up for grabs for everyone.   This should really apply to the land plots too, I think.

It seems to me,the way it is now just encourages a lot of vultures to hang out  ingame.

I am sorry, when I saw the title and the first one line, I thought of maturity the other way.

Either way, there's no trees nor corps that are "illegal". Every seed/sapling stated that the plants will eventually become public property, not immediate after maturity. People who gather them while they're still owned, in wild, they get footprints and get crime points for it.

Face it, people who steal are just some greedy mofos who think everything else is FFA when game mechanics are right there, but they just twisted in some way like calling it "illegal" and try to make their action ok. If you steal, you serve the jail time. Simple as that. There are claims of "it's tax evasion" or stuff like that; but really, where do you expect late sub users to find any land, and where can ever F2P players survive, taken in account of how low their LP regeneration is? Tax is just a game mechanics of preventing one account owning too much property, not anything like how IRL tax serves; if it does, where's my protection against PK when I was doing tradepack, and where's the security it adds when I simply try to kill reds at our own ports? Just face it, greeds get the best of most people and they make slippery excuses to try to go around.

I never steal, nor wait for maturity; yet I am ok in game, surviving and having fun. In fact, getting rich too. Really don't think steal give me joy, but all the pain that gives to the owner and the grief it adds into the game. Serious, just this type of matter should be tagged as "LETS WATCH HOW IMMATURE PLAYERS CAUSE PROBLEMS IN GAMES AND WHY MATURITY ISNT NEEDED". Maturity, tisk.

When I run into a situation like this I just uproot the fuckers before they're ready so no one gets anything. Yes I'm not a very nice person.

    Excellent solution.

In darkfall, people were known to delete everything in their inventory while being pk'd to prevent the killer from getting great loot.  Unfortunately (or fortunately) Aventurine implemented a patch that allowed players to loot anything which was in your posession in the previous 10 minutes.

I'm sure before long you'll have to hold hands with 2 other people and sing kum-baya to uproot a tree.

That's a great idea, actually.  Simple yet clever.

I think showing the time is a good thing.  The reason is that if it didn't, everyone who came upon a plant would have to try to activate it to find out.  It would waste a lot of time for people to have to activate each plant.  Better to be able to take a quick glance and move on.

    There are downsides to this:

    1. When I find a huge number of player planted trees I see when they are about to mature -  I record the loc and then go back to see if I can snag a few

so what would happen - people would uproot a lot more frequently because they be like "I just found 100 trees but I am not gonna wait here for days for them to mature (as I don't know what they will mature) so F it - uproot them all.

How about up root something belong to someone cost you double or triple of labor points use to chop it.

If add this i don't think any fool use they precious labor point to do something un-product like uproot .

If you found 100 trees but it cost you 6000 lb for nothing to uproot all then will you still want to uproot them ? lol

And as other post said about the infamous points gain when you uproot other people tree ,

but you seem like PVP so infamous points wasn't problem , right ?

mgilbrtsn : you don't need to come close to active them to see action .

when you move mouse to them they will show you "tree name" (matured ready to choop) or "young tree name" or "sapling tree name"

Did you ready play the game ?

DMkamo only right about it will reduce possible PvP ,

but  it only "thrill" if the player who wait to chop is red and lower level than the owner , i doubt any fool with do it .

Or the case you max level and gears and find fun to mess with other instead of go pirate or war with other continent ?

At least for PVPer , know some shame and go to another continents to raid .

I always go to pvp zone or other continents if i want "thrill" of pvp.

seriously , nowadays PVPers are too carebear.

I agree, one of the things that annoys me most about the community is the term "illegal farm".....the tax hasn't been payed blah blah blah, just shows those individuals ignorance.  It costs labor to plant items on public land .... it also costs labor to make tax certificates....so tax is payed with labor.  On public land tax is payed upon planting and they are actually taxed much more heavily than the weekly tax on farms.  I think that instead of costing labor to plant the seed they should charge the extra labor upon harvesting it, then the planter wouldn't be out the labor and gold, just the cost of the seeds.  I own my own farm space and leave others secret farms alone, so I don't want this change for my own selfish needs.  I simply believe stealing should cost more than harvesting on your own land and planting seeds should be the same on public or private land.

hmmm, Hiding the mature time from everyone except the owner. That would be interesting. But perhaps someone with high logging or gathering could estimate the mature time based on their proficiency.

In any event, I still think that players should get flagged purple when they swipe someone elses plants and trees.  Give people the opportunity to defend what is otherwise marked and theirs of they are so inclined. Of course that doesn't mean they will win the fight.

    All die, so die well.
