Archeage Hardcore Challenge

Peer_GyntPeer_Gynt Member UncommonPosts: 79

Well I've been playing the game a few days the way everyone hoped to I imagine. Grinding out quests, got a plot of farmland on Calleil, did a few trade pack runs, got in a few fights, went on trial once, and well frankly found myself bored.

Let me explain why. I love the PVP portion of the game, but the farming in a safe zone aspect can go absolutely to hell. It just bores the pants off me. At first to spice things up I just started planting in the wild to add some factor of risk, but even this just didn't do much for me as all I'm really doing is watching grass grow.

So I decided fuck this and deleted my toons on Calleil, grats to whomever got my farm plot by the way, and rerolled on Ollo as that seems to be where the action is.

So this is what I plan to do. I'm going to go out of my way to make Archeage as hardcore a struggle for me as I can. I'm going to do everything backasswards of what people say I should do. First, crafting can fuck right off. I want to play a blood soaked warrior not a godsdamned peasant farmer. Second, I'm not following good advice and waiting until 50 to go over to the pirate faction. I just hit 11th and turned on bloodlust mode. I'm going to just rampage, uproot, raid, pillage, plunder and, otherwise pilfer my weasley black guts out, until they vote me off the island. Hell. I'm not even going to play a stealth toon. I'm going to level and PK as a paladin just to make things even more difficult. Should be a hoot.

Now is this a stupid idea? Will it all end in tears? Yeah probably. But sometimes you've just gotta say "what the fuck."

Anyway I'm on NA Ollo East faction. Name is Neckbeardthepirate. Feel free to come say hello, or stab me in the face, or both if that's your taste. Oh and don't worry. Those of you I manage to murder, I promise to look after your widows and orphans. Well at least up until I sell them into slavery.

Lol, agreed! Definitely sounds like you would like Age of Conan or Darkfall better, specifically Darkfall though I think. Both more hardcore and in your face.

Brilliant idea. Keep us updated as to how it pans out and the challenges.

    Thanks.

    I like this guy.

But if you really want to be hardcore, take an Ambien while watching your crops grow.  Then see how long you can keep your eyes open.

True. but in Darkfall he wouldn't be as original. Doing this kind of thing in Archeage is sure to be "hardcore" for him.

Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile

To OP,  you don't know what hardcore is until you actually have the stomach to roll some off-ass spec for pvp lol ( like Inquisitor or Ranger, or any of the tier 5 or 6 specs that has virtually no synergy)

I've monkeyed around with absurd builds, but my goal is to make the game more entertaining by making it more of a challenge. Using a shit build on purpose would just make the game even more tedious. If I was going to do that I might as well just play the whole game sans armor. However depending how this current challenge goes I just might next try the one with an obscure build and no armor.

Thanks for the replies and support everybody. I can't figure out how the hell multiquote works so I'll just address all of you here. I enjoyed the first rendition of Darkfall but haven't played the "new" version. How does it stack up against the first and how is the population these days?

I'm glad to see someone got the Risky Business reference.

I'll pop back in every few days to update my progress. So far its looking like I will have to do at least some farming to get my gathering skills high enough to be able to uproot peoples crops for the infamy. Blech.

I have to say that so far PVP has been  nonexistent. I've had bloodlust mode on since 11th and have encountered a few reds in my travels but not one of them even slowed down to take a look at me. So unless I can gain enough infamy from crop stealing/uprooting I'm probably stuck in "Carebear Land" until after 30th. A prospect that really doesn't please me.
