All this does is give people even more incentive to hack.
Almost all of my guildmates are now running them including myself. There's simply no reason not too. You have to use them if you want to be able to acquire land and enjoy the game.
There's a 99% likelihood that nothing will be done about it and in the 1% chance they do, we'll just get back our account back in a day.
Dude, I played Guild Wars 2 for 2 years. ArenaNet not only did nothing about the rampant hack use in WvW but they went so far as to ban anyone that complained about it. This will be no different.
You either hack yourself to stay competitive or you just quit now.

How exactly do you claim land in a F2P account that can't own land.... Inquiring minds would like to know?

Careful speaking ill of AA. The very happy players are spending their time defending the game here instead of playing. Or waiting for their LP to refill.
A game where everyone hacks seems like a fair game to me. I mean your all on the same level right?

I've been playing AA on and off with my daughter. It's a fun game with cool features.
That being said, frankly, I just can't take AA seriously and dedicate myself with all this stuff going around. I guess I'll wait a few months (a year maybe) to see if things get straightened out.
I can't think of many first offences in any game that deserves a permanent ban. If you can, that just tells me you have zero idea about how to run anything related to dealing with customers.
Are you being for real, or just arguing for the sake of arguing? You can't actually believe the things you are saying. I've been dealing with customers/clients for over 20 years in one capacity or another in my career, and I can promise you this, if one of them stole from me, there would be no second chance.
If a customer walked into my store and got caught shoplifting, I wouldn't allow them back into the store because they are a "young, dumb kid." I'd be insane to do that.
And yet, that is exactly what you are suggesting Trion do. Do you know how crazy that sounds?
I think the worst thing Trion could've done is publishing a Sandbox(And f2p no less) and this thread is proof. There is nothing good that you can say about the sandbox community, Well maybe that it is not the moba community...
So the game will tank thanks to it's "supporters" and in less than a month they will be around posting "Why they won't give us a sandbox?" Don't you know it? If you are entitled a little more freedom than normal you will surely fuck things up....
I would be fine if they unbanned a hacker and WIPED his character, to give him a second chance. Make him start over from scratch, but give him a second chance.
Some of these people admit that before they got banned they amassed a fortune. Even if they do go legit permanently after their temp ban, they've already secured a huge advantage. Not doing anything about that encourages more people to quickly amass a fortune cheating, because they know that they will just be temporarily banned and can go legit later.
Overall though I'm on the side of permanent ban them all. No excuses. If the case is obvious, if the evidence is there, and there is no evidence of the account being compromised. They knew what they are doing. If they didn't know, they will for hte next game they play.
You guy should go over to utube and search Archeage hack for kicks. I have not seen this many for any mmo before and they proudly post them without any fear.

Yes....Second change would have been fine....if the hackers did not keep all there stuff they gained while hacking.

One very bad "DEVELOPMENTAL" error I find in this game is around the PK system.
I am killing a mob and a player kills me.
If the last hit WAS by the mob when I died , I will actually lose XP / labor points.
This error alone has the potential to break this game which is revolving around PvP.

Trion has to have someone to buy tax certificates. I've had prime land stolen by a hacker. There was a plot that opened up in Tigerspine, which I would've loved to had, I went to grab my scarecrow to claim it, and bam a scarecrow appeared with nobody in sight. I checked yesterday, and the land is still sitting there with nothing on it, just a scarecrow.

There's defending cheaters and then there's agreeing with Trion's leniency toward first offenders. I didn't think the difference was all that subtle, but perhaps it is to the casual reader.

I could smell it even before the game launched. So much for pay walls.

Lol I've stopped playing for now until they can get on top of the bots & hacks. But man I can't stop reading their forums. Its like driving passed a road accident, you know you shouldn't look but you just can't help yourself
Don't know if someone else mentioned it yet but the link doesn't work or they have removed the thread. Just looked in this thread to check out the link but it no longer seems to be there.
Probably can't harm to quote the official reponse to that thread as nobody else seems to have bothered to check the facts:

As Morgana said, we do investigate and the majority of bans do stand. Sometimes folks are still able to get away with some shady stuff, but our policy and procedure is improving every day in dealing with them. As we improve our detection and get better records, it'll be harder and harder for folks to get away with stuff like this.Locking this thread down as there is nothing more to be said on the subject.

I am sure that is gonna work perfectly.
Much more fun to call for the heads of these16-year olds fatties... Who do you guys think these petty hackers are anyways? Career Chinese criminals? The Russian mafia?
People who have not yet learned that yes, the rules apply to them also. This is a good opportunity for them to learn, but instead people like you are all about 'forgiveness'.
I can only -imagine- why that would be, since there are really only two answers and one of them is lack of familiarity with what these filthy scum do. I don't care if they're 12 or 64, there should be no forgiveness for intentional cheating. This isn't a ban from society, its a ban from a single game.
Ah so you do understand it's a game... And yet you wrote all that.... Lol.
Pete Rose, the Black Sox, and every PED user should be forgiven too huh? I think you may want to retrace your steps for the past several days because it appears you dropped your clue and need to find it again because those guys cheated at games too...

If you don't hack, you won't get land. You'll literally be locked out of half the game.

The hackers should lose their accounts. They knew they were breaking rules with teleport hacks.
If Trion insists giving them a second chance, then they should strip the account of all items, gold and labor.
