Sci-fi sandbox, Seldon Crisis, has entered an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds to develop the game. According to the initiative page, the game is a player driven sandbox experience with free exploration and a political system run by players.
There will be a huge variety of missions, such as combat, escort, courier and exploration. Of course you can also engage in a combination of those. There are minor factions in each sector, either hostile, friendly or neutral, offering work to adventurous captains. You can also explore the depths of space, where hidden missions and unexplored territories await. The galaxy is a vast and beautiful place. And space is not empty: There are thousands of star systems, planets, moons, nebulas, wormholes and asteroid fields waiting to be explored and exploited. Each sector of the universe offers a unique variety of resources and procedurally generated content.

Thats the question. I tired to get an answer out of them on this, and all I got back was arrogance, explanations that come off as sketchy, and question dodging. I don't trust these guys. They come off as very naive to the reality of making this game. I was totally excited and ready to pledge when they tried kickstarted. The reaction i got when asking that question put an end to that.
Suzie one month ago, you posted news about Seldon Crisis Kickstarter on mmorpg.com: http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/loadNews/32394/KickStarter-Campaign-Begins-for-AsminovInspired-SciFi-MMO
Right now, Kickstarter has closed the campaign because of intellectual property dispute: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/442113790/seldon-crisis-a-sci-fi-sandbox-mmo-universe
Good journalist would have checked what happened to the Kickstater she already knows about, and mentioned it in the article. You did not.
Time based skills is a big no thanks,i don't like the way Eve is designed and won't support another copy of it.
On a side note if they can actually add ship animations when hit or blown up that would be cool. The sound effects of the firing was also good.
Problem i have with space games is that they are pretty much empty space with some 2D ships that might wander through, not very exciting when you have so few assets and nothing to look at.

Good catch Vrika, I was wondering about that too.
Considering Sega came down hard on an Indie company for trying to use their Shining Force series for an MMO, I really think this has zero chance of getting off the ground.
The licence fee alone would be astronomical.

I am fully aware of the closed Kickstarter. However, that was not the reason for the news. It is simply an announcement of a game developer seeking funding, nothing more or less. The legal dispute lies outside the scope the press information sent to us.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Well at least there's no "Asminov" spelling issue this time
That being said, this looks fishy. Kickstarter shuts them off for IP dispute and they reopen another campaign on Indiegogo without addressing why Kickstarter's off... I'd recommend caution before backing them.

Hi Guys,
We answered the questions regarding Asimov on the KS campaign but as its no longer viewable I will answer it here.
Initially we were planning on basing Seldon Crisis on a novel by an italian author, and we referenced elements of Asimov's foundation series as both us and the author are huge fans, We were / are speaking with the Asimov Estate re: a partnership but until those talks are concluded we were asked to not mention certain elements of his novels, this is completely understandable (copyright law demands holders actively protect their copyright or they can lose it)
we have taken the necessary measures to fully comply with what has been stated. All given to Professor Asimov and his works have been deleted from websites and social networks, ships and factions now have different names according to the logic of a new text written and originally published by us. any reference to a book that we wanted to write now no longer exists. We are also attempting to modify and / or delete the video and references as above on the major online magazine achieved by our news.
Kickstarter requires 60 days gap between stopping and relaunching a campaign, this is why we have now chosen Indiegogo.
The campaign is to enable us to speed up our ongoing development, and to enable additional featurs to be worked on at this stage.
Thanks,
Chaos Interactive
Hi Karr,
While I appreciate that you guys came here and on Indiegogo to explain that, I'm confused as to how someone who has read Asimov's work cannot think of a filiation between your game, littered with the terms "Seldon", "Foundation" and "Galactic Empire".
Saying that "All given to Professor Asimov and his works have been deleted from websites and social networks" is either an insult to our intelligence or to yours, I won't be the judge of that here.
Nevermind the legal issues : when you start off in such a hiccupy way and coming off so poorly in the eyes of the very fans of the genre and of Asimov's work, the ones you desperately need to get your project off the ground -- because you do crowdfunding -- well I think you guys are better off to step back and think about it.
I believe, if you don't want to damage further your reputation and the work/assets already developed, you should either withdraw your crowfunding campaigns and wait for the legal dispute to settle before making a strong comeback; or drop the Asimov act altogether, get a new name and restart strong.
In my opinion, unless you do something drastical like that, you do not stand a chance to develop the game that you want to develop with the crowd.
Good luck.
This is utterly ridiculous. Either it is a Foundation based game or it isn't. That should have been decided right from the start and the appropriate approvals should have been in place from the get go.
And if it is a game based on a huge IP like the Foundation series, then why should we, "he public" be expected to fund a game that will likely require some fairly hefty amounts of cash, simply for licensing and legal fees??
Its like saying, we are going to remake Star Wars Galaxies. We just haven't gotten around to talking to Sony and Disney yet. Would you mind chipping in a few bucks for the lawyers and negotiators?

Also Chris, you may want to tidy up your online presence a bit, avoid posting under handles which have history of online presence with unprofressional posts and also make your Facebook page private, etc. There's way too much out there exposing your private life and linking you to unprofessionnal and/or failed projects.
As the CMO of a company asking for large sums of money from the public, you're doing disservice to your workmates by having a sloppy online presence.
