Hi All,
This is my first post here. I've been looking for a place to get information and suggestions on new MMOs and I think I've found the spot!
I've been in and out of quite a few games as of late, and with the current changes to my life and schedule I am once again on the search for something to fill my spare time. There isn't much time, but there is time between my new job at the call center. Good news is, I have access to a gym for free at the center, so I never have to leave the house!
My current stable of games all have portions I like, and rather frustrating mechanics or are just not for me, but I like the "idea" behind the game. That usually means I play the game and drive myself insane for the sake of scratching that itch I have. I've attempted several single player games that are similar to the online MMOs, MOBAs, or FPS games, but I still find them "lonely."
To get down to brass tacks, I love certain facets of all my current games, despite some frustration, and was hoping someone would be so kind as to point me in the direction of some games that may better fit what I'm looking for.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive: I bought this on release because it was the only PC FPS that promised matchmaking. It didn't quite pan out the way I'd hoped, but a competitive match here and there is fun. I like games with matchmaking, and playing with others of similar skill. To an extent, I also like the competitive feel of the game, although certain aspects, such as economy and no respawns get to me every once in awhile.
Planetside 2: Another game I was excited for and quickly started playing once I upgraded my equipment. This is one of the games that I like the "idea" behind, but frequently find myself frustrated by other variables within the game. The ongoing war of an MMOFPS seemed great, the soldier progression is very enjoyable for me. This, however, is counterbalanced by the uneven populations that can occur at times making "fun" fights hard to find, and taking bases is sometimes unsatisfying. There have also been times that being "cheesed" several times in a row has induced a ragequit from me, just being honest.
Heroes of the Storm: Great game, no real complaints so far, it mostly comes down to the weird way team matching works, but it's in alpha. Most games are fun, but the uncontrollable variable of four other teammates can be frustrating at times.
Diablo III: Great game. Gives me the leveling and gearing fix when I feel the need. Easy to play with others and not frustrating. I do find it a bit shallow, if that is the right word. It's great for dungeon crawling, but after I get my fill of that the rest doesn't seem to hold me. Endless item/rift grind just don't seem to be my cup of tea when it comes to endgame content, despite loking dungeons and battlegrounds from MMOs.
Now for my actual MMORPG experience
World of Warcraft: I was into this game when it came out because I was that odd iMac child who grew up on blizzard games because they ran on Mac OS. No complaints though. I think Diablo II still holds the record for most time I've sunk into a game, U still l have it installed here for special occasions when my cousin comes home. I like this game, it was a great first MMO, but it always seemed to be that game that I would subscribe to for a month, and then get bored of and resubscribe later, the cycle would go on. I liked the game more when they added things like the dungeon finder, as it allowed me to play with others and in-between runs I would just hang out in a capital city and play it cool, very fun actually. Battlegrounds were also a very enjoyable aspect for me, win or lose. I would go in, kill some baddies, take some objectives and get my EXP, all within the span of about 20 minutes. I eventually figured those were the only two small portions of the game I was enjoying, and moved on. Raiding never interested me. As levels got higher the amount of abilities weighed on me.
In terms of what I'm looking to get out of a game; I will try and sum it up as best I can:
Multiplayer experience: I want to play with others. Games that support and encourage public grouping are preferred as I have no notable friends that game with me aside from HotS and CS: GO. I find singleplayer games lonely and barren in feeling.
Casually Accessible: To put things in perspective, I only have one day off this week. On an average week, I may put about 8-12 hours into a game, so about one shift. I don't mind putting time into games to achieve certain things, but top Diablo III players clearly "no-life" it to keep their spots on the leaderboard. I don't really have a better example currently, so I'll leave it at that.
Few Buttons: This has always been something that has turned me off from certain games. Once we get past 8-10 buttons for abilities, I get a little lost. An ideal amount of buttons would be no more than 6, but I can deal with a dozen at most. Games that fit into one action bar are preferred, after that, I lose myself.
Character Classes and Progression: While not so much a requirement, I wanted to put something here. I prefer traditional character progression in levels as opposed to more open classless systems featured in sandbox games such as EVE Online. I will admit I like my hand to be held a little bit, and too much complexity and choice can drive me away. There's a reason I never picked up EVE. Great game, but not for me.
Subscription or Buy to Play games are preferred. I'm not against playing a Free to Play game, but I would feel more comfortable with a predictable investment as opposed to a cash shop or similar systems.
That turned out to be a lot longer than I originally intended, and I hope it's not too long winded that I turn away potential help. I look forward to hanging around these forums for quite sometime, so I'll see y'all around.

There's no shortage of games that fit those requirements in my opinion.
As for the multiplayer aspect I find that is more up to you as the player, making that work for you in todays games. Expecting the game to do it for you just never works IMO.
Good luck in your search.
Oh ....I guess as a suggestion, FFARR might be a good choice for you.
FFA Nonconsentual Full Loot PvP ...You know you want it!!
GW2 comes to mind immediately. It has a semi-competitive PVP structure, it's B2P, it has few buttons, is casual friendly, and while it can be played almost entirely solo has a fairly strong grouping component.
FFARR - hmm I like the game, it may be worth checking out the free trial. IDK if it's what your looking for though, especially coming from a more competitive background.
