nah .. i don't think we need Pantheon (which is pathetic in its own way) to point out why few like EQ now. Here are some ...

    - camping

    - staring at spellbook

    - harsh death penalty

    - no instanced travel

I have argued against your point so many times before it's getting old.

Why would I care if some Justin Bieber douche loves Justin's songs, for instance? I don't give a rat's ass. Everyone has their own taste. You like what you like, good for you. You made it very obvious you don't like what I enjoy, point taken. Thank you. Now what?

Pantheon would not be a game for everybody.

One of the reasons why I pledged at the beginning, was because I had wanted a game that focused on community.

I am following Pantheon but not investing in it  (at this time)

    personally i DISLIKE

    - instanced travel

    - soft / zero  death penalities

    - dungeon finders

i recognize that many players like these features but not every mmo needs them

Now we enjoy discussions on the forum? What else? Obviously i am not waiting to play Pantheon.

Then don't read the Pantheon thread if you're not interested?

This thread is about Pantheon and no need for it to derail to a dead horse discussion.

    Back to the subject:

People need to know how horrible this "game" was managed and need to stay away from "pledging" in it because their money is going to be wasted.

I am not interested in PLAYING pantheon. That does not mean that I am not interested in talking about the train wreck.

I was about to type up a paragraph about how you give MMO players a bad name. Negative, whiner, typical troll, but hey..let's face it. Negative or not, talking about a game continues to keep it relevant. With that said, keep pretending you don't care! May end up being beneficial for Pantheon in the long run.

he likes to stir the pot against anything that is not F2P or casual, it's a waste and he usually manages to derail the thread

oh .. sure ... I don't mind the game benefits .. as long as I have some fun talking about it. It is not like it matters either way. It would be fun discussion either way.

    - wow .. what a train wreck, it really crash and burn?, or

    - wow ... that thing actually works? What a surprise?

I earn my own money thank you and since 2006 when I joined this site after a year of just lurking. I have a virtual, digital history of telling it how I see it and am an honest and fair poster. If I make a mistake I correct it if I am right I do not 'told ya so!' about it. I take offense to your immature accusation of my post being a paid advertisement. You have no idea what I do in a year, I do not need the money from a developer who clearly has less than I . Shame on you.

For someone who does a lot of lurking and is not paid you seem to care a ton about a game that has such bad press... You even care enough to change your information about Brad. I would have left this thread long ago, but my curiosity got to me to read whether you are one of the Pantheon devs. The fact you post here and seem to care so much about correcting errors for the record that have already been corrected says a lot.

Zarriya.... the game has no community now. It has about 8 active posters and 10 or so lurkers.

You know me well enough from the site as Mod Nirrtix. I was banned with no warning for explaining how radical sparkle was against GLBT folk.

I got put down to light blue status and my account locked for telling the truth about her.

I pledged $250 into this game. While they have the money to do what they wish, they also promised pledgers something for what we donated. I get nothing for disagreeing with their dream.

Now Sparkle is gone and Joppa is in. I respect joppa, but my continued banishment shows how much they care about community and what "Apprentice Dev" means. You have no purpose other than to fund the game and if you disagree enough you will be banished. I was not the first and will not be the last.

In the end this game is ashes. You can thank Brad's poor business decision (orwhatever you think it is) and Sparkle (for decimating what was left of the community) for that.

Look at the state of the website. Even now it is in shambles, with errors all over. I have seen games with a fraction of a budget with better websites.

    That is true.

I don't think a team who cannot do a website right can make a good game. It is 1000x easier and cheaper to produce a decent website than a video game.

    Switzerland here,

Been playing EQ over 7 Years . Until it felt useless to keep playing since new Expansions just overwhelmed me and the Gear you got from new Expansions, even in lower Zones was much better then what you could get from hard Raids before. So it felt kinda useless to grind even more, since all Gear you got will be outdated soon anyway. If that wouldn have happened i prolly would play it even today.

I really do hope Pantheon gets released, im pretty sure you can make tons of Money with a Game that has the same Hooks EQ had ..+ some good new Ideas as long as it doesnt end like all of todays. Casual Quest Hub, 1 Week to max, No Fear of Death not much resource Management needed/possible, everyone is the same Theme Parked Games, i cant express how much i dislike all of todays Quest grinding. In EQ you started super Weak and could become a Half God in 6 Months. In Todays Games you start as a Half God and become a Half 1/4 God in about a week and thats about it not quite a good comparison but kinda like that. Watch Some Log Horizon or Sword Art online to get some ideas about a might be interesting Mmorpg World.

I rather grind a Dungeon cause i like the ultra rare Item the very rare Spawn drops. Todays Games dont have such things, Rare does mean repops all 30 seconds and drops rare item 100% today wich removes a factor to be different then other Players. To find hidden Doors or other Mystery trigger Events or Names that pop in certain circumstances Mystery is my Key word for a good Mmorpg instead of scripted boredom place some good Algorythms for Mysteries Ppls cant see thru instantly.(Example a UltraRare that just spawns if 7 Players kill 7 Rare Mobs in 7 Different Zones not more then 7Mins apart from each other). I really do like deep Character Customization and i dont mean in therms of look. Thats something i would have made more complex in EQ the AA trees + Grouping was the strongest reason i been playing for 7 Years. But if i could choose i would like even more Freedom in How i like my Char in therms of Stats.

I Kinda miss the Enchanter role in todays Games since every Game tends to release with PvP you dont see any 1 Min Mezzes or 5 second stuns anymore its all balanced around PVP.

But I Wasnt much of a Vanguard Fan kinda felt like some Mysteries i felt in EQ been gone ...it just felt more Themeparkish Quest grindish and bland. Quest should be an Addition but not the only way to get good Gear or Xps. Best Gear and Xps should come from good Group Play and Drops. + Quests do destroy Groups since you dont want to repeat quest X a million times cause the 45th new group Member doesnt have it again.

After all i really hope all the negativity doesnt lead to Pantheon not releasing ever. Best of Luck and i might even Invest some Money if it does come along nicely in the Future. But usualy im kinda of wary of non finished Products. Since you never really know what you get.

Lunchbox.... invest in Pantheon if you want. It will be your loss, I already lost mine. This is more about Principle...

Sounds more like it's about an axe to grind, in all honesty.

You didn't like Sparkle for her views and you went to war with her about it in public seemingly. For that you got your wrist slapped.

It comes across that you considered yourself somehow untouchable or special because you had paid $250, but I guess you found out that wasn't the case.

As a side note, it always makes me chuckle how amazingly innocent people paint themselves when giving their version of a story like this ;)

I see you are into professional web design as well. Thank you for pointing this out. I create websites and blog networks for a living. Creating a well done website is hard work.  WordPress site will do but will look like a Word Press site.but to code a great site is very hard work and a skill beyond what most people could understand. A game developer does not always and usually does not employ a web designer. Two different skill sets. Look at Insomniac Games in North Carolina. They hired a web designer after pressure that their site was not good enough. They admitted they knew nothing of web design and hired a professional to create one. Web Design and Game Design are NOT the same skill sets.

Wait .. ONE web designer (abate a good one and probably expensive) fix Insomniac Games' website? How many good developers are needed to make a good MMO?

I am not saying web design is not hard work, or work that needs talent. I am saying the amount of resource (number of designer work hours) to create a website is small compared to a full fledge MMO. I don't think anyone can disagree with that.

So if the Pantheon team cannot even whip up enough resources to do a decent website (and i agree, hire some good web designer .. don't use the same guy who wrote the lore), how can they afford to do a decent game?

Brad has had enough chances. Hopefully Project Gorgon can become the game Pantheon wanted to be without all the drama and nonsense.

Are you telling me a professional website for a game costs tens of millions dollars (in terms of labor) to design and build? That is how much a MMO cost.
