I played WWIIOL when it first arrived and was turned off by the incomplete game it was at the time. Those of you who have played since the beginning will agree that it was a mess at launch. I came back 3 times when CRS offered a "try it again" promotion. Each time the game had drastically improved, but I was never convinced to stay with it. Now I see that CRS is offering a 15day trial and I'm tempted to give it another whirl, but I was hoping to get some questions answered.
1) My biggest complaint was the way missions worked. You could get in a tank, drive 5 km to a battle and kill 6 opponents, but if you didn't get back to the base, you got no credit for the mission. On the other hand, you could accept a defend mission and go crouch in a bunker for 10 minutes and get a completed mission. Have they changed this?
2) The radio system of communication was a huge mess. It got better, but it was still difficult. There were times when I couldn't talk to a guy next to me because he had spawned in a different city. Has the radio setup improved?
3) The rewards for building your character were minimal. The biggest perk was the ability to create missions. Otherwise, it seemed that a private could do everything a general could do, especially in the field. Is there a better way to build one's character up now?
4) Having to travel forever to find a battle and then get killed immediately was a bummer. I don't mind a quick kill, but when I've just driven or run for 15 minutes because the nearest spawn point to the battle is 2 km away, it stinks to get killed so quickly. Is this still a problem?
5) No way to reload. When your tank or plane ran out of ammo, that was it. You couldn't land at an airfield and reload or pull into an ammo dump for more artillery. I like the idea that you have limited ammo - that's realistic, but having to ditch a plane because you've run out of bullets isn't.
I'd like to come back, because when things were going right and your side was fighting like a team, it was outstanding. I remember a group of Allies gathering outside a Nazi stronghold and then storming it. When we took that base, it was one of the most satisfying gaming experiences I've ever had, and I'm 39 and been playing games since the days of Pong and the TRS 80, so that's saying something.

I am currently trying the free trial now and I have notice alot of the problems you have listed. It looks like a fun game but I was fustrated by these same problems. I would get a tank and drive it over to the next town to fight the enemy, which would take me 20 minutes . When I finally got the the front lines, someone would take me out with one shot. There are alot of tedious things you have to do in this game for a brief battle.
I saw the game 3 month ago and playing it since.
1. I think its not a problem, but a feature in this game. If u despawn near enemy territory (MIA) or u got killed (KIA) you didn't recieve points for it, i find it a good thing. This way you have some kind of fear of death, but i will improve more with the new "deployment" system.
2. If the player selected the same city to attack or defend then you can communicate with him through objective channel (dont have to spawn in the same city), its very rare that you are with a guy who selected something else, but then u can send him private message: .m playername message Many of the attack there are an attack channel assigned by a leader of the attacking squad.
3. No havent changed much, if you reach Corporal then you can use most of the vehicles (after Captain there you have everything, except priority 1 mission posting), but its hard to reach that rank in the navy or air, im still private both of them. Now your current rank is displayed before your name.
4. Depot spawning solved that if you want instant battle (only possible with inf) you can spawn in some depots of the attacked city, but with tanks, planes its still a 10 min drive.
5. Now riflemans got ammopack, so they can reload any other inf. Vehicles have to RTB, then respawn. You wont lose you vehicle, because if you despawn at the base it remains reserved for you for about 5 mins.
+1. Get in a squad (or just join the squad channel) and you will always have that "most satisfying gaming experiences". Nowdays after 1.10 (it was the best patch ever, as i heard) there are many more players so there is always many good fights to choose from. For axis, i recommend 55 its the 91st Sturmbattalions squad channel, they got about 180 members and many other people is on that channel.
