I have 3 characters, have played since headstart and don't have one of them past level 25. My wife and I enjoy casually cruising through the content, occasionally crafting, exploring, etc... If you are of the mentality of "must win all now" than this game wont be for you. IMO, though, I feel like they have done a better job of giving the player a reason to explore and experiment with class builds then Elder Scrolls Online has, which IMO is the only other viable option for me. My wife and I are the types of players that play a few times a week for a few hours at a time, and want freedom - that's what I liked about Skyrim. This game nails that spirit, IMO, pretty well. If all your concerned with is "being top dog" and having the best of everything as fast as possible, yeah... this game wont work for you. But if you don't mind a casual romp through a game that lets players think "outside the box" well then there is some enjoyment to be had. I feel like your problem is trying to play this game that is different, like all of your other MMO's that you rush through. Your fitting a square peg into a round hole basically, IMO. To each their own! :)

Archeage is anything BUT casual in the end game.  There's no more "content" (IE, PvE) to go through, so the only content left is that created by the PvP and crafting to support it. And the crafting costs become so insane that it's mathematically impossible to craft anything upper-end without a group effort before you die of old age (that's not an exaggeration. People did the math).  You need to group in PvP to survive against other groups in PvP, you need to group to survive trade runs, you need to group to craft, and all against tons of other people doing the same thing in a gear-based game where if you fall behind in the gear race, you become at a severe disadvantage even if you are grouped with others.

Which is another part of its problem.  It draws in people who think it's casual with its easy-going early content, only to toss them to the wolves in the end-game where everything is a competition and the gear race becomes extremely difficult.

(unless they don't want to take part in the competition at all, in which case, they run into another problem where there's... well, nothing else to really do.  Again, the PvE content in Archeage just ENDS past a certain point, and a pretty early point at that)

So you played the shit out of the game in alpha and now you're burnt out and everything feels like a hassle and a waste of time and you spend labor points at such a high rate that you're a labor potion addict?

    Okay, gotcha.

For everyone else, words to the wise: don't be that guy! image

Just also to point out that in Alpha you get 20/10 LP regen so capping is actually easy.

With current released version, 10/5 does require some potting if you want to pursue some aspect of the game in a rather quick rate.

The new MMO smell will wear off soon enough. Grab a seat, get some popcorn, and watch the slow decline of AA. It'll be the next Darkfall when its all said and done. And thats not a compliment.

Funny I get lots of bad smells around here ...one of the worse smells is a mix of popcorn and sweat

I've played since alpha started in NA. I wouldn't say say I was a fanboy, but I definately had high hopes for this game. The more I play the actual release, the more disheartened I have become. The amount of cheating and p2w going on is disgusting. The first end-game dungeon, GHA, had multiple bosses that could be glitched and killed with ease. So now there is an entire group of players with gear sets that were achieved by cheating. The whales can buy APEX with real money and turn that into gold. The price for APEX, by the way, keeps going up; making it even better for people willing to spend money to get ahead.

    TLDR: Cheaters + P2W = no fun.

So true and such a shame. Was waiting forever for this game and turned out to be such a dud.

I agree with this post. I quit yesterday. I think this game was hyped up. I am very disappointed that I wasted time on this game.

You can run all your life but, not go anywhere.
