How's the PvP now that CoV is out?

I played CoH when it came out, and came back again a few months ago before CoV.  I personally found the game to be repetitive and a rather "rinse and repeat" formula.  How has the PvP worked out with CoV.  I see that the expansion was not really rated that well on this site, yet CoH seems to stick in the top 10.  So, if someone who is still playing could provide some info, that would be much appreciated.

i nvr played pvp i only went into an area to get to a mission, i think it is if u see a hero and ur a villain u just target them and show em no mercy but im not sure how it goes

Its as unbalanced as ever.  They've tried to balance it out by adding a few temp powers that you can buy, but theres still a certain template to being decent in pvp.

If you were asking how popular it is though, it is definately alot more popular than arenas were.  I was on the justice and virtue servers, and I could always find a fight in Siren's Call or Bloody Bay.

I wish they would make the team pvp better though, which I think won't be accomplished til they add base raids.  Chokepoints and close quarters might make some of the other archetypes and powers more viable.

Until they add base raids? I thought base raids were in at release, just never got to experience them because no one had built up their bases yet.

I think he meant more casual friendly base raids.  ATM base raid are extremely serious and dire in consequences.  I have to hear about any villains who actually win a base raid unless they grossly outnumbers the heroes.  image

Personnally I can't care less, nobody will ever raid my base!  image

I think the PvP zones are fun. Whenever I want to play my L50 scrapper but want some challenge, I just head over to Siren's Call. PvP is as balanced as it can be - there are some tactics that just work better than constant attacking. Teaming helps to some degree, depending on what archetype you are, but it's not useless.

I love the game, but doesn't anyone else get the feeling the PVP just does not really work in the current form - escpecially the base raids.  Seems like building the base will take forever and then the risk vs rewards does not ever make sense to even have a battle.

As far as the zones I have logged on as a hero and run around "hunting" the misc villain that wanders away from their base camp only to have them scurry back when I started hitting them.  There needs to be more purpose to the PVP I think.  Seems the idea is there, as the capture the flag mentality but the means to do it or motivation is missing.

So right now as it is PVP gets a "D+" in my opinion - maybe with the new patch it will change my mind.  I am looking for epic battles of good vs evil to struggle to control a common goal for a major reward.

    ---MMO EXPERIENCE:---
    WoW - 06-2006 to current
    COV - 40 Corruptor - 10-2005 to 04-2006
    COH - 50 Scrapper - 04-2004 to 04-2006
    EQ2 - 35 Barb Berserker - 12-2004 to 04-2005
    EQ1 - 55 Barb Warrior - 2000, 2001
Tried: DaoC, DDO, Auto Assault, SWG, Lineage II
