This is my first post on the community. I've been reading as a guest many of the threads around this section, but they seemed to be a bit specific. Probably is because of OPs being experienced MMO players, so they're looking for something extremely new or that contains tons of features.
In my case, I always had a difficulty : I can't settle down on a MMORPG. I usually leave on the mid-game. Sometimes is due to the fact that I find them too repetitve and dull.
I'm gonna set a list of requirements, but only the ones with [*] are important :
- [*] A good and active community, where you can find people with ease and communicate in a good manner. No toxic. I heard EVE has a strong community, but I'd like to know If there's another game apart from that one.
- Roleplay in mid-game. I tried to find any game with that attribute, but it's really hard.
-[*] Enjoyable mid game. I don't want those dull quest or repetitive instances.
- Crafting
- No exceding loot.
- [*] I hate MMOs having thousands of quests that only disconcert.
- Sandbox.
Honestly, I'm a noob on this type. However, as I don't have enough time to try a lot of videogames plus there're a huge amount in which many look the same thing, I need to read your opinions about it.

I think Achaea fits all those. Great community, very roleplay focused, lots of crafting skills, and theres no loot drops because you either buy your weapons/armor from another player, or forge them yourself.
I always prejudge MUDs for being just text-based. I might give a chance as Achaea looks quite interesting plus, it motivates me on improving my writing and enhance my "imagination".
Then to add on this LFG thread, I'd like to know If EQ-EQ2-DDO are still worth to play.
Problem with EQ1 and EQ2 is that 95% of the playerbase are max level.
If i had to chose one out of the three you listed i'd absolutely say pickup EQ2. There aren't many if any mmo's out there with the amount of just real honest to god content as EQ2.
Another game you might consider is Rift. Reasonably good graphics, more modern game, has a good community.

My disclaimer: I'm currently playing WoW but have extensively played the majority of MMO's released in the past 12 years.
- [*] A good and active community, where you can find people with ease and communicate in a good manner. No toxic. I heard EVE has a strong community, but I'd like to know If there's another game apart from that one.
You've just ruled out 95% of all MMO's ever made. It's hilarious someone mentioned ArcheAge when it has one of the worst communities I've ever seen. F2P games generally have terrible communities because free troll accounts and spammers ruin it for everyone but AA is bad even by F2P standards.
The FFXI community isn't bad but that game has a plethora of different problems. GW2 community has the illusion of being decent but that's only because you don't really communicate in that game, it's more like a single player RPG then an MMO. Other then that nothing else comes to mind, I've never played Eve though.
- Roleplay in mid-game. I tried to find any game with that attribute, but it's really hard.
I am a huge D&D and Pathfinder fan and I can tell you with certainty that MMO roleplaying is dead, gone and resurrected so it could be killed again. Don't even try it. The best thing you can hope for is Neverwinter Nights(no not the MMO lol) and download a roleplay server where everyone is 100% committed to online roleplay. That is literally the best you will get aside from skyping an actual D&D session.
-[*] Enjoyable mid game. I don't want those dull quest or repetitive instances.
Project 1999 is a great choice for this. Classic EQ excels in the mid game. It's when your character starts to bloom, people start grouping and real progression starts happening. Low level you're too weak and high level is ruined by elitest raiders but it has a great mid game for sure. Oh and no forced questing or instances, which is pretty much the only decent game that can still say that.
- Crafting
I can't help you here I was never into it. Although I can say ArcheAge's economy is completely revolved around crafting, which is good news for crafters.
- No exceding loot.
Do you mean non stop loot fests with little to no effort? If so you have to go back in time because every modern game throws artifacts at you as a reward for breathing air. FFXI, Project 1999 and to a lesser extent TESO are good choices if you want to earn your loot.
- [*] I hate MMOs having thousands of quests that only disconcert.
Again every modern game has heavy annoying forced questing to level. Your only choice here is Project 1999 and maybe Eve if they haven't went to the dark side yet. Darkfall is another possible choice but is an overall terrible game imo. I mine as well bring Tibia and Tabula Rasa into the discussion if I'm going to start bringing Darkfall into this lol...
- Sandbox.
Project 1999, Eve(so ive heard), Darkfall. ArcheAge has some sandbox elements but not enough to please anyone that even remotely enjoys a true sandbox experience.
Overall the MMO choices are depressing at the moment. It's almost better to play nothing as a protest to all these clueless companies making 10 years worth of terrible MMO's. The choice is yours but I can't help but feel like you're screwed no matter what choice you make. Hate to be a downer but that is sadly the reality of it all.
