Poorly designed.
A huge discussion on their main forum regarding the Cutlass, and basically people (including me) see the Red as a downgrade to Black.
Unless it is an unique hull, otherwise, people may not want a Red. However, if it is an unique hull, that means the Cutlass itself is very limited (or ships in the future are very limited). That would be game breaking if ships lack customization.
