If anyone is interested it took me 28 hours (game time) to get a hunter from lvl 1 to 60, 95% of the time in LFD, I then used the boost that came with WoD and now have a lvl 90 with Primary professions maxed out. (I waited to 60 so my professions would boost), sadly the only secondary profession that boosts is first aid not cooking or fishing.
You'll spend a few hours getting to 15 then the LFD is unlocked so just grind those out, most dungeons are completed in 20 mins and you'll likey get a whole level out of a single run, the classic dungeons are nerfed to hell have at it.
You'll have to play patch 6 pre quest line though to unlock your skills but thats a hour or 2 content.
I'm currently a level 88 warrior, 2 days played time (no heirlooms, no boosts, just quests). Leveling is fast except for MoP... too many mandatory cut scene voice overs and silly game quests. LOL, they really did slow you down in MoP... artificially. That being said, I haven't even left the entry zone in MoP yet and should be close to level 89 by the time I do (started at level 85). So leveling is faster than release, but much slower than the other zones by comparison.
Some notes on gear... with the revamp of stat importance, you will find that there is gear with completely useless stats for your class being given as quest rewards... especially during 1-60 level. Plate with agility... all the plate wearers gain zero benefit from this stat but back in the day, they could. So a little sloppy on the itemization updates if you ask me.
You'll notice the stat squish in MoP immediately. While you gained stats in the 1-85 levels, moderate of course, they did change, in MoP you'll notice the item level change but the stats really don't change at all. I'm wearing a level 277 item with x stats, I am being rewarded a level 317 item... stats are identical, only the item level changes. 317 to 384, you gain 1 armor and they swap the secondary stats order, primary stats remain identical to the 317 item. So instead of 17 crit and 18 haste, you might see 18 crit and 17 haste. In another words, MoP is where the stats more or less come to a screeching halt. Comparing the stats of my gear to raid gear and I see only a moderate difference, so the whole feeling of getting more powerful goes right out the window. You're flat lined in MoP compared to the other previous expansions.
All in all gear is unimportant. Seems you face roll through everything. My warrior just whirlwinds through the mobs, don't need to bother with any other abilities. Expected of course, but highlights the fact that leveling is really irrelevant these days in terms of teaching you how to play your character. The only time leveling is relevant is at the beginning of a new expansion release... you will find it much harder to level at the release of WoD than you will say 2 months in. Artificial gating later removed.
Took my 85 Pally 1 day to get through all the MoP levels and have tons of quests left there...
Now Im moving my level 80 Rogue through and up to level 87...a bit slower cuz the rest xp ran out, but not much slower...it's actually VERY fast to level and the mobs are all squishy so you pretty much mow through quests...you also amass large quantities of gold as well.
Oh, also got my Pally up to a 510 Gear Score thanks to my awesome guild.
1 to 60 takes no time at all now to level up, if you are a healer or tank it is also better because of the instant Q's for dungeons. If you quest also at the same time even better. Just do the yellow or red quest while you wait the 1 or 2 min Q for a dungeon. Then at level 60 if you are to use a boost to 90 make sure before you do it to learn your 2 primary professions + first aid. Keep them at level 1 then use the boost on your character, that will automatically boost also your professions to level 600.
Now if you don't want to boost that character then keep doing what you did fomr level 1 to 60 for the rest of your levels to 90. Sure some xpac it is slower if you are dps but as healer and tank you get instant Q all the to 90. For dps it can play a bit depending of the time of the day you play. Sometimes you get 2 min Q in lich king but other time it gets to 14 or 16 min. It will also depend on what server you play. Just make sure you are on a high population realm and it will be ok. Max 1 week if played correctly you should be at 90, if you have lot's of free time on your hands then 2 to 3 days you should be at 90. I do speak about days in the real world not days in game because they do work differently.
edit : @Pepeq - Go in the dread waste, where the qualix or whatever there name is ( they look like bee's ). Just do a few quest there, they are level 89 and 90 Quest and mobs. Inside 4 or 5 quest you will get a level and can finish that level 88 to 90 inside an hour or so. Remember that if mob is max 3 levels above you they don't dodge or parry anymore. So it will be a walk in the park like in the lower levels. Also it will leave you with most of the quest unfinish it that area.
